Security Alert!

From Your Shareware Team

The newest email virus, Davinia, overwrites all files on the drive making recovery impossible. Davinia is just another example of viruses that infect simply by reading email, no opening of attachment necessary. PC virus, but don't spread it! Find out what steps you need to take to prevent such an infection. http://antivirus.about.com/library/blemail.htm

Tip O' the Month

From Your Shareware Team

You know how to make a pop-up tab out of a folder window: drag the title of the window to the bottom of the screen, it turns into a tab. It only works for folder windows, however. It does not work for the notebook window or any other application window. It also works for any volume window. But, since icons for volumes already appear on the desktop, why bother?

To get applications available on the desktop, use a launcher, or just put an alias icon on the desktop. If all you want is the name of the application, paste on a blank icon, or shove the icon up under the menubar, leaving the name only below. Doubleclick to launch.

Mac basics we sometimes forget

Save As (from Cindy's World)

Most applications which create documents have both a SAVE option (command-S) and a SAVE AS option. What is the difference?

If you are creating a brand new document, nothing. Save and Save-As do the same thing. But if you open an existing document, Save updates the disk copy of your document, Save-As asks you first, or lets you save as a totally new document. Why do this?
