This DocMaker document is a compilation of secrets stuffed inside of your Macintosh or Newton by Apple programmers and engineers. Easter eggs include random jokes, elaborate credit screens, or hard-to-find games that are meant to give the creator a little fame, also adding a personal touch to the best computer on earth. Free.
CopyPaste gives you ten clipboards instead of just one! Type the usual keyboard command for copy or cut and then any number between 1 and 9 before releasing the command key. Paste works in the same way. In addition to the normal clipboard you now have nine more.
Its this easy:
Its really simple, just the addition of a number to the usual commands gives you 10 clipboards. $20
KKGames consists of 5 games for children:
Free.
The MicNotePad software uses your built-in microphone or sound input port and the hard disk to record conversations or any speech of arbitrary length. Once it is rec orded, single Play, Stop, and Skip Back keystrokes immediately control playback while you type in your word processor when completing your notes. There is no winding: MicNotePad promptly reacts to your commands from the keyboard or mouse clicks, thus outperforming traditional mechanical tape transcribers. Free.
The directory buttons in Netscape Navigator are not equally useful to everyone. You can dig in with ResEdit and change the resources behind them, but this application does it far easier. Make a copy of Navigator, run this Editor, and change the buttons to point to the URLs you REALLY want to get to, and put appropriate labels on the buttons. (Save your old version of Navigator - you never know....) $5
Netscape 3.0 makeoverThis little guy will change the fuzzy purple icons on your buttons to cleaner looking ones, give you a new Netscape startup splash screen, and a few other nice little changes, see if you can spot them.$2
This system extension may improve reliability and performance on Power Macintosh computers, PowerPC-based Performa computers, Mac OS-compatible computers, and on desktop computers upgraded with a PowerPC upgrade card. This extension requires System 7.5.5. Free

ClipFolio 1.5.1
Clipfolio watches your work and every time you cut or copy
information to the clipboard, Clipfolio keeps a copy of that
information. Your information is saved and you can come back later to
use it over and over while you continue copying new stuff (which is
also being saved). Clipfolio will save up to 60 of your most recent
cuts or copies, automatically! All you need to do is install
Clipfolio to take advantage of power like this. $20
Desktop Strip 1.2.1
Desktop Strip is a $20 shareware Control Panel that has the same
functionality as the utility 'Control Strip' that ships with recent
Macintosh PowerBooks and with System 7.5, but with several key
enhancements.
Drag Any Window 3.2.1

any kind of window, including dialogs, alerts, standard "Open" and

keystroke. It is very useful for old applications designed for the 9"
screen (which often use fixed windows) and for moving modal dialogs
and windows behind them. $5
InternetConfig 1.3

is available for assistance. Free
SNITCH 2.0.1
Snitch is a System 7.x Finder enhancement that extends the Get
Info command allowing you to see and edit a variety of different
information about a file, folder, or disk. Snitch itself is also
extendable, allowing other software developers to create new uses for
Snitch. Snitch will run on any Macintosh, 68K or PowerPC, that is
running at least System 7.0. Snitch is fully native on Power
Macintoshes. $20

Tex-Edit Plus 1.8.5
Tex-Edit Plus is a multi-window, styled text editor that fills
the gap between Apple's bare-bones SimpleText and a full-featured
word processor! It is particularly useful for formatting text that is
transmitted to and from a BBS. Tex-Edit Plus is small, fast,
easy-to-use and requires little memory. $10.
We also have a 4-disk set of Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0, featured in November's product demo. Save yourself a 5 Megabyte download for only $5.
The IP "Ping of Death", a Ping packet over 64K (which can be produced on Windows machines), will crash almost any computer which can receive it. A Mac with MacTCP will reject it out of hand, but with Open Transport, you will CRASH! No fix yet from Apple.
Check out a discussion of the "purgeable WDEF" bug in MacIntouch. It can cause your mac to crash!
Another problem causes your PowerPC to hang while waiting for something - something.... See PowerPC Interrupt Extension above.

You just put a folder in the trash and you are SURE you don't want it and so you empty the trash and IT WONT GO AWAY! Some nonsense about being locked!
It may just BE locked: select it, get info, and if it is, GET INFO should show you. Just click on the button, dismiss GET INFO, and empty the trash again. Try EMPTY TRASH with the option key held down.
Maybe the folder isn't locked. What about stuff inside the folder? Check it out. One good thing to try is to select everything in the folder and trash them again - which puts them in the trash, outside of the folder. Now try to empty the trash. Any locked item will remain, while the others vanish.
What if the item is NOT locked according to GET INFO, but empty trash will not remove it? Turn off File Sharing and try again. Sometimes this works, I don't know why. You may also try quitting ALL applications.
Still can't? Congratulations! You have the FOLDER FROM HELL! On another disk create an empty folder and give it the same name as your folder from hell. Copy it to the folder (or trash) containing the folder from hell. (Remember that Trash and Desktop happily accept items WITHOUT COPYING - use OPTION to force the copy - you may need to run through another folder first). When your system does the copy, it will replace the FOLDER FROM HELL with a normal folder of the same name. Now you can empty it from the trash.

Aliases are a great way to save effort and keep organized. They give you an item and an icon that looks like the original and acts like the original, but it is only 2K (depends on volume size). Double-clicking an alias starts the original. You can drag and drop onto an alias just like on the original. And, wonder of wonders, the alias still works even if you move the original (as long as you don't remove it from the original volume). You can have as many aliases to an item as you have room. A good idea is to keep important applications in well-organized folders and put aliases on your desktop or apple-menu. An absolutely essential trick is to put an alias to your Apple Menu Items folder in the Apple Menu Items folder. Redundant? You bet - this allows you to work with the apple menu so easily it will knock your socks off! Try it.
The names of aliases are always in italics (you know, those slanty letters). You can rename an alias to anything you want, and it will still work. You can even change the icon if you wish. To make an alias, select the original, and do Make Alias (command-M) from the File menu. If you have Hidden Finder Features, just Control-drag the original's icon to where you want the alias, and there it is!
Sometimes you have a handy alias icon on the desktop and you want to get the original item. There are 5 ways to get it: 1) laboriously delve through all your folders until you find it, 2) use Find File to find it, 3) select the icon, get info, and click on Find Original, 4) if you have Automated Tasks (and AppleScript is running) just select the icon and click on Find Original From Alias, or 5) if you have Hidden Finder Features, select the icon and type command-R.
