The Book of Psalms was written by David who was first a shepherd boy and then a King. It tells of his anguish, his failures, his jubilation in the LIVING GOD. I am going to write here some of my favorite passages from Psalms.

Psalms 91

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of The Most High {GOD} shall abide under the shadow of THE ALMIGHTY. I will say of THE LORD, 'HE is my refuge, and my fortress; my GOD. in HIM will I trust. Surely HE shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with HIS feathers and under HIS wings shalt thou trust. HIS truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day. nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy right handk but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made THE LORD, which is my refuge, even THE MOST HIGH {GOD} thy habitation, there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For HE shall give HIS angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and the adder; the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample underfeet. [and GOD answered David's praises:] Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high because he hath known MY Name. He shall call upon ME and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him MY salvation. "

Psalm 1

"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of THE LORD; and in HIS law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season, his leaf shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so; but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in The Judgement nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For THE LORD knoweth the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish. " verses 1-6

----------------------------------------------------------

" O LORD my GOD, in THEE do I put my trust; save me from all them that persecute me; and deliver me. . . . THE LORD shall judge the people ; judge me O LORD according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me. Oh let the wickedness come to an end; but establish the just; for the righteous GOD trieth the hearts and reins. My defence is of GOD, which saveth the upright in heart. GOD judgeth the righteous and GOD is angry with the wicked every day. If he turn not, HE will whet HIS sword; HE hath bent HIS bow, and made it ready. HE hath prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth HIS arrows against the persecutors. Behold, he [the wicked] travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood. He made a pit and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made. His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate. " Psalms 7: 1,8-16

Psalms 37

"Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in THE LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land and verily, thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself in THE LORD; and HE shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto THE LORD; trust also in HIM and HE shall bring it to pass. And HE shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light and thy Judgement as the noonday. Rest in THE LORD, and wait patiently for HIM. Fret not thyself because of him who propereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger and forsake wrath; fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off, but those that wait upon THE LORD, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be; yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. THE LORD shall laugh at him; for HE seeth that his day is coming. The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and the needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation. Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken. A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken; but THE LORD upholdeth the righteous. THE LORD knoweth the days of the upright, and their inheritance shall be forever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, and in the days of famine, they shall be satisfied. But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of THE LORD shall be as the fat of of lambs; they shall consume;into smoke shall they consume away. The wicked borroweth and payeth not again; ;but the righteous showeth mercy and giveth. For such as be blessed of HIM shall inherit the earth, and they that be cursed of HIM shall be cut off. The steps of a good man are ordered by THE LORD, and he delighteth in HIS way. Though he fall he shall not be utterly cast down, for THE LORD upholdeth him with HIS hand. I have been young and now am old, yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. HE is ever merciful and lendeth and his seed is blessed. Depart from evil and do good, and dwell forevermore. For THE LORD loveth Judgement and forsaketh not HIS saints; they are preserved forever; but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. The righteous shall inherit the land; and dwell therein forever. The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom and his tongue talketh of judgement. The law of his GOD is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide. The wicked watcheth the righteous and seeketh to slay him. THE LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged. Wait on THE LORD,and keep HIS way, and HE shall exalt thee to inherit the land; when the wicked is cut off, thou shalt see it. I have seen the wicked in great power and spreading himself like a green bay tree. Yet he passed away, and lo, he was not; yea, I sought him but he could not be found. Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright; for the end of that man is peace. But the transgressors shall be destroyed together; the end of the wicked shall be cut off. But the salvation of the righteous is of THE LORD; HE is their strength in time of trouble. And THE LORD shall help them, and deliver them; HE shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in HIM."
verses 1-40

"It is a good thing to give thanks unto THE LORD, and to sing praises unto THY NAME, O MOST HIGH." Psalms 92:1
