With the air temperature in the 30s, a Delta 2 rocket lifts an enhanced Global Positioning Satellite (GPS 2R-10) into orbit to replace an older model. Large picture shows the liftoff while the inset shows the rocket tracking through the clouds. This numbingly cold weather launch took place at 3:05 a.m.(!) on 21 December 2003 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
