This will be a long study on the fifty-first chapter of Jeremiah, and will take several posts. It is very
germane to the times of today, and is I believe, a portion of the roll Jeremiah dictated to Baruch, before he left Palestine
to complete the planting he was assigned in chapter 1.
Jeremiah chapter 51
The book of Jeremiah is to me an extremely special account lived by a person who was very special to our Father.
There is in fact a very deep study in the first 11 verses of Jer chapter 1, and unless one studies it with open eyes this
book as well as much of God's purpose will remained sealed, as it is to many today. Much of the entire purpose of God's plan
for Israel is revealed in our book of Jeremiah. In Verse 1 of ch 1, we find that Jeremiah was of the
priests of "anathoth", which word in the Hebrew means "answers to prayer". Today we find ourselves looking
for many of the same answers God gave Jeremiah.
Three things should jump out at you immediately from these first 11 verses of Ch1.
1) Jeremiah was chosen before his flesh birth, (Ch 1, v5): and,
2) In Ch1, verse 8 God promised Jeremiah He would be with him to see him
through. and,
3) Jeremiah was assigned 6 specific tasks by God Himself. (Ch1, v10)
These 6 things we should recognize not as just His Story, but also as the destruction, removal, and reconstruction
in a new place of God's People. Paul the Benjamite (one of the 3 tribes which were there in Jerusalem at the time of Jeremiah's
writing) devoted a whole chapter (Rom 11) describing the new promise which is the replanting of the seed line of Jacob. He
(Paul) describes the blindness of those that cannot see including many in our "churches" today who don't study God's word
for themselves, but take instead the words of man's commentary. If this statement offends you, ask yourself the this question.
How many persons who spoke the true words of the Living God to the people and in their tabernacles and churches were loved
and accepted by them? Were they not rather despised, afflicted, wounded, and torn asunder? Did not the so called 'religious
men of God' crucify even our Lord Himself?
Paul wrote Romans 11 as a special message to the very few ELECT who, by God's grace would have the scales
removed from their spiritual eyes in the end times. Ch 51 represents not just unfulfilled prophecy. It gives one with
spiritual eyes a deep insight into the emotions of our Father and Creator. As does most of God's Word, it
also describes events which were taking place at the time the words were written. However, it can be a big mistake to insist
that there is necessarily only one fulfillment of events, thus some things can never reoccur. To do so will
rob you of the lesson our Father wishes we would learn. The apostle Paul (in 1 Cor 10:11) reminds us that the things that
happened in His Story are examples for us in the end times. He (Paul) in Heb 13:8 also reminds us that our LORD is the same
yesterday, today and forever.
Just as a fire can always burn you or water can always drown you, God will always correct His children, and
always using the same emotion. Likewise we should not accept the statements of the so called 'higher critics' and
commentators that any event completely fulfilled any prophecy and exclude the surety that a like action on
the part of modern peoples will not bring forth a like judgment from God. It will, on the contrary, ALWAYS bring forth a like
judgment. On the one hand, God's natural creations reflect visible examples of His own constancy, and are
beyond human control. These include even scientific laws such as the length of a day, the force of gravity, and the foundations
of the universe. These things are not tempered with emotion or love, but obey precisely the rules God intended and created
them with. On the other hand, our own 'judgment' in the control of fire, for example, determines whether it will cook our
meals, warm our bodies, or destroy our houses and fields. Our actions in the use of water determines whether the water will
be used to sustain us or drown us.
I believe that this latter part of Jeremiah, beginning with chapter 45 was a part of the 'roll' Baruch wrote
for Jeremiah and delivered to king Jehoaikim, (chapter 36), which the king burnt up. (Read chapter 36, verses 1-9, verses
21-23, and verse 32). compare the time of 36:9 with that of 45:1. In fact, chapter 51 could either have been included in the
original roll, or it could be a portion of the "many added words" mentioned in 36:32. In either case, neither
Jeremiah nor Baruch were still in the land, for we find in chapter 43:5-7, that they had accompanied king
Zedikiah's daughters to Egypt to "plant" the throne of David in a pleasant place (See Jer 1:9-10), using the seed of David,
as God had promised as early as Genesis 49:10, and repeated plainly in no less than 7 additional places in
the WORD. See 1 Kg 2:45, 8:25, 9:5, 2 Chron 6:16, 7:18, Ps 132:11 and in 33:21 of this very book of Jeremiah. Even secular
History in fact proves where this throne is today, but that is a subject for another study. Suffice it to
say, it either exists with the so-called (by man) lost 10 tribes, or God's Word is wrong. If anyone would say Luke 1:32 fulfills
the promise, I would ask where was David's sons as kings of Judah for the 550 years between the destruction of Jerusalem and
Jesus' birth? Further, where are they now?
Friends, this chapter of Jeremiah is written to us today. It is written about the times we are now in. It
is advice. Don't fail to see the pearls of great price that are hidden in it.
Jeremiah 51 verse by verse
Jer 51:1 "babylon" Strongs # 894 hebrew word "baw-ble". It means "confusion". It is also the name of an ancient
city which typified "confusion" in the sense that it induced persons to rebel against God's laws for worldly gain. Secular
history teaches us that babylon was one of the richest cities in the ancient world. It was the main seat of commerce after
Nineveh and Tyre, (heb name of "tyre" means rock, which we should interpret as the false rock as in Eze 28
and Deu 32:31). The capitals of Assyrian commerce, fell. Many people insist that Babylon was a wicked, lawless city, and rightly
so, but not anymore so than our country today. By that I mean that the city was greatly civilized (even in the sense of today),
even democratic. It had great libraries, the smartest scientists of the day, and was a great center for education. The problem
was, as it is in the USA today, everything ran on money. People devoted their entire waking hours to making a buck, and there
were only three classes of people.
1) the rulers, appointed by the king,
2) the wealthy and
3) those people that were owned by one of the other 2 classes of people. The only way for this third class
to be free was to buy their freedom, in money, from their owners. Exactly the same way it is done today, in the USA.
You are a slave to one of these 2 classes today if you have voluntarily sold a part of your future life to
guarantee a debt. (This Economic slavery is directly contrary to God's laws against usury (interest) as given in Deuteronomy
and Leviticus. It is "confusion" (Babel) to God's people, because they saw these merchants making many easy dollars without
physically working. The bankers charged interest to people whom they loaned money. The people who borrowed the money seemed
to be happy, too, for they had the immediate use of a new chariot, while the ones who followed God's way of earning the money
first had to wait until they had saved enough.
The rich Babylonian merchants increased their gains with altered scales, extortion, bribes and any other way
they could,
always keeping score by money. Money was their god. The Israelites were additionally "confused", because they
saw the Babylonians as prosperous and happy, while God had always taught them through their prophets that such
people were not happy, and would never prosper. Some know now that God was right. He is still right. The spirit
of Babylon is more alive today than it was 3000 years ago, for just as God told Nebuchadnezzar, He {Neb.} was the head, or
beginning of man's insatiable lust for gold. Today, the whole world worships the Image of Gold. They desire having a piece
of it more than anything. They have forgotten about their duty of pleasing their Father who created them. They "worship" money.
Money is their strength. Money is their power. Money is on their mind from the time they rise until the time they lie down
to sleep. How can I make more, they ask. Many have neglected all to work 2 and 3 jobs to get more money and the bills that
go with them. Is it no wonder that since this is on the mind of many, there is no room for the word of God to be on their
mind? Their mind is occupied with the want of money. Their right hands work to get even more. Jesus said "by their fruits
you will know them". Is this not the "mark of the beast" ALREADY indelibly etched into many in the forehead and the hand?
Thank God that this system will be destroyed as the economic engine as described in the 18 th chapter of the
book of Revelation. This chapter in the book of Jeremiah prophesies that destruction, as does all the prophets. As God
says in Amos 3:7, and Paul reiterated in 1 Cor 10:11, These things are written by God so that some (the Wise)
would understand. Know that all WISDOM comes from GOD.
Thus, don't think of "babylon" as just a ruined city in the desert, or else you will miss the point of this
prophecy. Babylon as the ancient city of commerce has been destroyed forever as God's word states. "Democratic" Babylon as
an ANTI-GOD system has never died, yet. But it Will.
Jer 51:1 "and them that dwell there who rise up against Me" Christians take warning! If you fight for Babylon
you are fighting against God. You will fall with Babylon. This is why God tells us in v 45 to "come out of her".
This is not a physical move that is referred to, because we are all "slaves to babylon" as we see in the next
verse. Daniel and the three children were also slaves to babylon, thus they couldnt move. But because they were faithful to
God and would not partake of that system, God delivered them from all that the king tried to do to them. If
we now turn, and make a conscientious effort to "come out", and do not continue to follow a system of ruin which is against
God's law, I believe with all my heart that God will use us too.
Jer 51:1 "a destroying wind" can also be interpreted "an evil spirit" or a (natural or manmade) "destruction"
It does not have to be some natural disaster such as an "earthquake" or comet. It could it be a rebellion of the masses against
too much usury or taxes? We know who Israel is. We know how they reacted when Rehoboam the son of Solomon raised yet more
taxes. They rebelled and became a separate kingdom (1 Kg 12). They never returned. Where
are they?
Jer 51:2 "fanners" Heb # 2114: "zuhr" It means strangers, foreigners, apostates, or non-israelites. It is
not translated "fanner" any where else, yet the heb word is used 77 other times in the bible.
"shall fan her" heb # 2219 "zareh" it means to winnow (harvest) or to "toss about" or to "stir up." "empty
her land" Heb # 1238 "baw-kaw" to depopulate, or to make void.
This phrase literally means " The apostates which come among them shall cause the people to fall away." (from
God's Word)
Think of the way in which we have helped the zuhrs (apostates) destroy all the goodness we once enjoyed in
this great country. We have been so busy buying things and paying off on our increasing usury debts, we no longer have time
to run our lives. So the apostates run our lives for us. They now own us -- lock, stock and barrel. Most just dont realize
it yet. In fact, the apostates are not at all satisfied with owning the house we sleep in when we are not working
for them, and the car they buy for us to go back and forth to work for them, but now they are in the process
of saying the same as was said to Daniel and the three, "You must worship our god or die".
"day of trouble...round about" No doubt about this one. 'day of trouble' is the "day of Jacob's trouble",
"the day of calamity" = the tribulation
"round about"= literaly "the full circle" (of the earth) = worldwide. See Jesus' words in Luke 21:34-35.
Jer 51:3 this verse is another way of saying "those who kill by the sword must be killed by the sword" (Rev
13:10)
There was once a time when God sent Israel to found this "One Nation under GOD", just as He sent our forefathers
out of egypt into the land of Canaan. WE have done the same thing our fathers did then. We did not continue to destroy the
evil out of the land, and now they not only live with us, they are our leaders. Just as our forefathers were destroyed out
of their promised land, we are to be witness to the same emotions they felt when the king of Babylon came to them.
He will surely come, and soon, and as it was written for them in this book of Jeremiah, "YE shall surely serve
the King of Babylon", and there is no alternative for us today either. Many who tried to escape by fleeing to egypt were destroyed
there as Jeremiah said they would be, when the King of Babylon came to them there. He will control all the earth today also.
(SEE Jer 27:6,7 and 27:11,12 and 28:14.
The ones that disobeyed God in that time lost their lives, and did not have a chance to serve God. There were
some that did Serve God at that time, and made a great difference for their people. Think of Daniel, The three
children, or Esther, that great champion of her people, and the mother of Cyrus. These were God's ELECT, His
Watchmen on the wall. They did it according to God's will and not their own way. They were faithful in the face
of adversity, and God used them greatly. Beloved in this time especially, allow yourself to be used of God.
The lesson is that we must NOT pick up arms and destroy the apostates. To do so interferes with God's plan.
Many say they want to be God's sword, but they dont understand that the time of metal swords is now past. God's sword today
is His Word. Become familiar with it, and I guarantee you He can use you.
Jer 51, V4
The "slain". This word can mean physically slain or "polluted", i.e. separated
as via divorce. It is interesting that in this book of Jeremiah, God divorced Israel <3:8>. The Chaldeans
were the "wise men" or scientists that Daniel bested continually, by following God's Words. We must do the same. Today
in the USA primarily, but also in the world we have many 'wise men' and we would do well not to follow them, but to be well
aware of the slavery they would love to have us voluntarily accept.
Study the word 'thrust through' and you will see it means many other things than "stab". For example,
the thrusting through can be through starvation or slavery. A slaves ear was "bored through" by his master when the
slave VOLUNTARILY decided to hang around. < Exodus 21:6 >. Has your voluntary servitude to babylon caused your
ear to be bored through?
The word "streets" is also strange. It literally means to sever, sort out or otherwise separate as with
a wall. (outside, outdoors). If we come out of babylon, then the wall that is around us is God's protection. We
dont want to be walled in with babylon when the time of destruction comes, perhaps very shortly. So we have a choice.
Indeed this verse talks of Father’s vengeance. Not on the vengeance He did eventually exact from Nebuchadnezzar’s
Babylon, but future vengeance on the Babylon this entire world has become, and IMO particularly on it‘s head, the USA.
V5-- Here Father makes plain that He is not just talking of Judah, but of all Israel. Here we have proof
of the last day setting of this prophecy, for Israel had been taken captive more than 150 years before Jeremiah’s time.
Here is the beginning of the betrothal to God of His bride, rectifying the divorce of Chapter 3:8.
"their land" was full of sin. Whose land? Why all Israel, of course, just like it says.
There is more location clues , for notice, not ‘this’ land, or Palestine, where Jeremiah and Judah lived.
But, ‘their land’ must, by definition, include the lands even presently occupied by the 10 tribes. Shortly,
(V 13) we will have a great clue as to the locations of ‘lost’ Israel.. Much of Israel is spiritually
lost today. Many more will choose to ignore the signs of the times as their slavery to Babylon becomes more pronounced
daily.
V6-- This verse has a connotation which is not easily understood in the English versions. Yes,
we are to ’flee’, but not necessarily physically. The words "out of the midst’ means a ‘severance’,
as separating from the midst of. In other words, climbing the wall (‘streets’) of verse 4.
We can see
the destruction of Babylon as it falls in Revelation 18. This destruction is very physical, but notice, as in Rev 18:4,
there is that warning again. COME OUT OF Babylon. This chapter in Revelation describes the destruction of an ECONOMIC
system. There is no blood being shed. Lots of whining by the rulers and merchants, though, because the means by
which they held the people captive is destroyed. Those that worshipped the god of gold are given the sight of their
power being consumed as the system falls. All that are within her walls will likewise feel the pain, for the means
to repay contracted usury is made void. Where is the end of their slavery now? By what means will it be paid?
How many lifetimes will it take?
"deliver every man his soul". To whom will one’s soul be delivered? There are two masters.
When the word speaks of not being cut off, can you draw the picture? Whom would you least like to be ’separated’
from? One can walk away from houses and cars which are collateral for usury with only a bad credit rating, but it’s
not so easy if your debt is credit card borrowed money, especially if there is no money in the system to repay it. If
your soul is owed to the company store, you cant pledge it elsewhere.
"render it a recompense". Babylon’s (the system’s) rulers and merchants will witness with
their own eyes ALL of their power (money) being made to be as useless as dirt, and hence the bands which hold their slaves
will be broken. They will then be just mere out-of work peons, like the rest of the followers of Babylon. Finally
God opens their eyes to something besides money, by showing them His power.
V7-- Babylon hath been a "golden cup". The word cup is from a root that means a container
such as a money bag, or purse. The mighty oak tree that represented Nebuchadnezzar was a 'resting and nourishing place'
for all unclean birds, but was cut down cut down to a stump <Dan 4:10-15>. Thus the gold of Babylon was
the economic engine that provided food for the nations, and it is the same today. Babylon thus survived because the
stump was banded with brass and iron bands to preserve it over time. <Dan 4:23> The brass and iron bands
represented the kingdoms which would follow to the end. These were the metals of the kingdoms in the fearsome image
Neb saw, <Dan 2:32-35> and are represented by the kingdoms of Greece, and Rome, and finally even the ten toed
iron kingdom of today, represented by the G-10 economic rulers of the NWO. The golden cup (purse) of Babylon will
remain until the end, and just as Moses destroyed the golden calf made by Aaron for the Israelites, ground it into powder,
and made them DRINK it, <Ex 32:20> so will God make the rulers and followers of modern Babylon drink of their own golden
purse.
<Rev 18:6>
The economic obsession which flows from the worship of money and projects its absolute power
and control over others is the source of the 'drunkenness' of the nations. The words "therefore the nations are mad"
is a poor translation. The word 'halal', translated "mad" is mirth, happiness, praise. The nations and people
are 'happy' with their possessions, and live only to gain more 'money'. Ignorant they are of the slavery of usury they
are in. They rejoice their 'power' of gold (money) and are in as much stupor as if they were sodden with wine.
Consider that today, especially in cities, one cannot furnish their table without money. Without money,
one cannot keep the king from taking their home, for taxes cannot be paid. We have willingly traded the self-sufficiency
of farm life for the baubles of the world.
V8--Babylon is destroyed in an instant. All of a sudden, the whole merchandising system of the world
is GONE. <Rev 18:17> Prepare a medicine for her, to ease her pain. Notice the word pain. It
is a mental pain, and it will be felt by all who have relied on her for their happiness and future, instead of following Jesus'
Words "lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven". All the wealth of the world has come to naught. There will be
weeping and gnashing of the teeth. Is it any wonder the people of the world will whore after Satan, the father of the
rulers of Babylon who restores the health of the system after this wound to the economic beast system?
V9--The Idea in the Hebrew is "They (her lovers) may give her medicine, may try everything to salvage the latter days Babylonian
system, but to no avail. For as stated in the previous verses, God has pronounced her doom. "Abandon her, her lovers cry,
for she is fallen into the snare of the Almighty". Notice the awareness of her lovers at the impending judgment? Will they
not know? Of course they will. <Rev 6:15-16, Rev 18, Eze 27> All flee to their own countries, abandoning the one world
system, for here she recieves the deadly wound to her head. < Rev 13:3> The one world political-economic system falls.
<Rev 18>. The cries of the slaves of her injustice has reached the ears of God. <Rev 6:10>
Verses 10 through 14----- These verses form an ode in the Hebrew which is in effect a victory song of both the whole house
of Israel <see V5 above> upon delivery from this Babylonian system, the basis of the new world order. Here, for sure
is a preview of the final destruction of Babylon to be accomplished in the future as described in the book of Revelation.
This is perhaps a version of the song of the overcomers at the downfall of future Babylon. <Rev 18> Follow along from
the KJV text. The strongs was used to extract the sense.
V10-- "The LORD has restored our right!!
Come let us tell it in Zion,
The acts of our LORD God" (the new song is sung in Rev 14:3, by the 144,000)
V11-- "Sharpen the arrows and oil the shields,
The Spirit of the LORD has inspired the Median king,
who will destroy the city of Babel
for the LORD will avenge his Temple"
V12-- "The LORD has raised His Standard against Babel's walls;
Their guard may be strengthened, their watch increased
But God's Keepers make ready the column for storm. <Rev 14>
For the LORD intends, and will do what He says,
against the people of Babel.
V13-- "O Prosperous dweller, living in pleasure by plenteous streams
your end has come, your measure is full! (mene mene tekel upharsin <Dan 5:25)
V14-- The LORD of HOSTS has sworn by His life!
He will fill you with men like locusts <see rev 9>
They will come up against you with cheers
Verses 15 through 24 form a song or psalm to the Creator, describing His Majesty.
Again, follow along in the KJV. The strongs was used to give the sense.
15--He made the earth by His power, and
by His knowlege He formed the spheres
and spread out the universe by His skill!
16--At His voice, the seas roar to the skies
and clouds rise up from the horizon,
with the lightnings and rainstorms He makes,
and He brings forth the winds from His storehouses.
17--Ignorant men are are like brute beasts
with their cunningness, the refiners making images,
devising idols without a soul, their idols are falsehood. (think money here, the most common idol)
18-- Such Idols are vain (a thing of naught)
and the work of delusions, for
in the season of trial, they fail. (Babylon and its system will fall, along with all who 'live' in it)
Here we definitely switch to an end-time view:
19--Jacob's portion (the sealed Elect) have never been like the idolmakers
The name is the Lord of the Sabaoth,
He hath constructed all things, and the Portion is the rod
He hath chosen a race for Himself
20-- (to the Portion) He says, "Thou art my hammer (My Cyrus)
and weapons of war,
And I hammer the nations by you,
and by you I break up kingdoms
21-- I hammer horse and rider by you'
and by you hammer the chariot and driver <Zech 6>
22--and hammer by you man and wife
and hammer by you old and young
and hammer by you youths and girls
23-- and hammer by you the flock and its keeper, the shepherd
and by you hammer the ploughman and plough
and by you hammer the Rulers and the governed.
24--And will avenge you on Babel, all they have done
and all who reside with the Kasdim (religious false teachers)
who laid sufferings on Zion, and this you will see with your eyes, saith the LORD!
To be continued
