--Then came Amalek--
8 Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. (KJV)
14 And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua:
for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
15 And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah-nissi:
16 For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.
I have seen little Bible study on Amalek, such as what people they are and where they are today. As I
wondered, I decided to do some research on these people. I have come to the conclusion that they are, in general, the Islamic
terrorists confronting the world at this present time. This is not to imply that all of the people of Islam are of this bent.
Far from it. To the majority of the people of Islam, the terrorists are unwanted outcasts. Some time ago, I read in some
now obscure report, that it was estimated that about 8 to 10 percent of Muslims openly hate the western world, and would gladly
give their lives to destroy the western way of life completely.
As I muddled this thought, it dawned on me that 8% is roughly one in twelve of the now scattered 'nation'
of Islam. I also believe that the western Christian nations comprise the majority of Israel at this time. (See 'the marks
of Israel' study) Just as Israel is dispersed in the western Christian nations, so also I believe Amalek is scattered
primarily in the Moslem countries.
The Word says that Amalek is an enemy forever of Israel, and is ultimately to be destroyed. It is easily confirmed
that Amalek is a grandson of Esau. (Gen 36:12). Furthermore, we see in Gen 36:16, that Amalek was named as one of the
12 dukes of Edom. The strange part of Amalek's dukedom is that he apparently 'disappeared', at least by name as a 'duke' at
roughly the same time that the Israelites became settled in their lands.
For example, in 1 Chronicles 1:51-54, there are only 11 dukes of Edom named. Amalek is MISSING from the list!
In verse 51, it mentions that Hadad their king had died, and it is possible that the independent leadership of the people
of Amalek died with him. In any case, let us see if we can locate and perhaps identify this missing 'tribe' of Amalek.
That this is fulfilled prophecy is easy to prove. Remember Baalam? Here is what he said long before the time
when Chronicles was written.
20 Then he looked on Amalek, and he took up his oracle and said: "Amalek was first among the nations, but
shall be last until he perishes." (NKJ)
So in Chronicles, Amalek apparently ceased as a nation, but, like the tribes of Israel, who, nearly losing
all Benjamin ( Judges chapter 21) until wives of the children of Israel were given them, Amalek perhaps mingled among the
rest of the children of Esau, which today, along with the children of Ishmael may well form the peoples of the Islamic countries.
We have previously touched on Esau, how he was a totally rebellious and Godless person. He defied the will
of both his earthly and Heavenly Fathers and took wives of the Hittites and Hivites, a Canaanite, Baal-worshipping people.
Today, the Islamic peoples, being of Esau-Canaanite origin, give a foreign name to God the Father, and reject totally the
saving grace of His Son, Jesus.
As was done by Saul, the first king of Israel, we, have just lately attacked not only the people of Amalek
and many others, we have left their 'king' to live and took their possessions (oil) and allowed it to continue, which oil
was distributed as 'spoils' to the people. (See 1 Samuel chapter 15)
When this happened, in the first episode, the Lord withdrew from Saul. His troubles grew worse, until he finally
had to consult the witch at Endor. (See 1 Samuel chapter 28)
Is the witch of Endor the ancient equivalent of the Godless world system of the President's advisors? Is the
spoils of Iraq being shared among the oil companies?
That Amelek is the forebear of terrorism and warlike cowardice, especially toward Israel, is brought out here:
17 Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;
18 How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when
thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God.
19 Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in
the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of
Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it. (KJV)
Today, as then, the terrorists are not willing to face the point of the spear, that is our army, and they
prey on the weak, unsuspecting and defenseless with their suicide bombers. Their cowardice prevails today, just as it did
in the days of Moses.
Joshua, and later, some of the Judges destroyed many of the Amalekites. Finally, Saul, the first king
of Israel, defeated them soundly, yet left their king (and in essence, their form of government) alive. For this, his life
was taken, as well as the lives of his sons.
David, who nearly totally destroyed them, but not quite, wrote a Psalm which holds an interesting prophecy
concerning Israel's enemies which are all named here. They are devoted for destruction, as God spoke by Balaam, and Israel
will yet have the victory.
1 Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more
5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8 Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
9 Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
10 Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
12 Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
13 O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
14 As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.
17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth. (KJV)
Notice that this is directed to all Esau (Edom) as well as Ishmael, and even includes Amalek by name. They
are devoted to utter destruction, as is written. Their king (system) will not be spared when the Lord accomplishes this.
Especially notice how, in the last verse that God Himself, through David reminds all of the peoples of the
world that HIS NAME IS JEHOVAH, thus certainly it is NOT ALLAH.
Can this statement be other than the ultimate warning to all who would degrade His Holy Name? Watch
out Islam, your time fast approaches.
