    Party Report June 27th.

While on a cruise last year I kept hearing the ship’s staff using the phrase “exceeding your expectations”.  Well, our party at the Cotton House on June 27 did just that! We had 93 people in attendance, and 31 of these were new members.  Everybody had fun!  The food was a covered dish supper by the membership and everyone was well pleased with that concept.

Comment from a new Member:  We really enjoyed our first outing with your group.  What fun everybody had.  And what made it special was the music and seeing friends we had not seen in over 20 years. Wow! What a rush.

                                                      Food Service

We had a great response to the covered dish supper at our last party.  This seems to be the best way to have a good, consistent food offering and we have decided to make this our normal setup for food.  The DJ sponsors will provide the meat entrée and the members will be asked to bring veggies and dessert.

Alternately, if someone in the group would like to provide the food we will give you a budget of $50.00.

Next Party is Friday August 1st.

Our next Beach Blast will be at the Cotton House on Friday. Aug. 1st.  Lessons at 6:30, party begins at 7 PM. This will be a covered dish supper again, but the sponsors will provide the meat this time. Please email us at the address below if you plan to bring a dish.

Parking

Please be advised that if the parking lot at the Cotton House is full, you can park in the lot next door and come in the door on the back side. If the door is locked just bang on it - someone will let you in.

Music and  Requests

Please remember that we must cater to a large number of musical preferences at the Beach Blast.  Requests should be the exception rather than the rule.  It is extremely disheartening to a DJ who has been playing mainly requests to have someone come up and say we don’t like what you’re playing and then give us a whole list of their requests. We are asking that requests be held to 1 per person or 2 per couple.

Membership Count

The Lake Murray Beach Music Society is now 304 members strong!  From this pool of members we should be able to average 80-90 people at our parties.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q:  Why do I have to fill out a “Waiver”  ?

A:  This form is what makes the Beach Blast possible under SC law. This is a “Private Party” and every person attending the Beach Blast must sign a Waiver or have one on file.

Q:  Why do you need our email addresses ?

A:  Email is our only way of communicating with our members. This newsletter and all messages will be handled by email. An example would be if we had to cancel a party. We can’t possibly call 300 members.

Q:  How do I bring friends at a discount ?

A:  The “The “Bring a Friend” policy allows members to bring “first timers” to the Beach Blast for a donation of $5 each. Once they have attended they will be on file and they will be members. There is no limit on the number of times or people you can bring this way !

New Website

Everybody should learn the Shag and at least one Line Dance. Take advantage of our free lessons by Ron & Rosalie Stevenson at 6:30.

Bio’s: we would like to feature information about our members in future newsletters. This is a good way for members to get to know each other.

Lake Murray Cruise

We had great response on our cruise aboard the Southern Patriot and are planning another one, probably in late August, on a Sunday afternoon.

Please let us know your feelings on these and other topics.   We welcome your suggestions.
