. We landed here on the Sheenjek River.  Looking north we can see the snow-topped crest of the Brooks Range.  The camping choice here was between mosquitoes in the more sheltered willows next of the river and the more windy bluff-top.  During the day we had showers and some snow sprinkles - then - all clear.
Geology and willows as we hike past the ridge dividing us from the Kongacut River.  Not far from here we saw a wolf ahead of us.
Don modeling backpack gear and proper fully loaded hunched style common in the first days of the trip.  Still heading north on the Sheenjek.
Rugged gorge we bypass using caribou trails as we climb in the pre-rain hours to the pass between the Achilik and Jago watersheds.  We have crossing the divide and are on the north slope.
Rebecca musing as the first view of the glacier tucked on the divide between the Achilik and Jago,  We had a windy misty rainy cold climb and camp the night before.  Now we are warming up and saying "Wow"
As the mist lifts more of the mountaintops are revealed.  The group rests on a lichen-covered rocky knoll.

Kate ridge-walking in the high country.

Jago River Valley looking upstream from where we entered coming down from the pass.  The cloud-covered headwaters contained the pass we bypassed because of the snow.  Maybe next year.
