PHOTOJOURNALIST, DOCUMENTARY ARTIST, AND MEDIA EDUCATOR

Thanks for visiting my website. I am a photojournalist, documentary photographer, filmmaker, and media educator. I currently live in Portland, Oregon.

Please have a look around. Click the links above and below to view examples of my work, my resume, and my contact information.

You can see my recently published first book of photography - ONE SUMMER ACROSS AMERICA - which documents my 3-month wandering across America by greyhound bus during the summer of 2001. This is my tribute to one of my artistic heroes: Robert Frank (and includes an afterword by him). Copies of this book can be purchased for $38 (includes shipping) by contacting me at bobbyfoto@earthlink.net.

You can explore my autobiographical work-in-progress RABBIT. You can look at images from my most recent documentary project STREET MUGGINGS (New York City, 2003-04). You can view other work including: SOUTHEAST ASIA (2001-02); ACROSS AMERICA BY GREYHOUND (summer 2000), FROM MY CAR WINDOW (Atlanta 1999) SILENT PRAYERS (from Latin America, 1996-97), and images from my multi-media documentary DREAMS, DESPAIR AND THE COCA-COLA OLYMPIC CIRCUS (Atlanta, 1996).

And you can look at the work that I am most proud of, the work of my students in the OUR VOICES project, which I founded in Atlanta, Georgia. OUR VOICES ATLANTA teaches homeless and transitional adults traditional black & white photography as a means of artistic empowerment, to encourage their positive self-esteem, and to build community. OUR VOICES continues in Atlanta under the new leadership of Maria Watts. I am currently in the process of developing a second branch of OUR VOICES in Portland, Oregon. Stay tuned to the OUR VOICES website for more information the future.

Also, please take the time to look at my site BOBBY'S WISH FOR PEACE if you share my passion for a peaceful planet.

Thanks again for visiting. Enjoy.

Bobby
