Life Goals & Life Rules (Some Examples)

Your personhood is the sum total of everything you have learned, everything you think, your character, and everything you do. It is in every sense "Who you are."

Your personhood is developing all through your life. It is you who does the building. By far the most important tools which you use are Life Goals and Life Rules.

"When you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there." Go Fish music group.

In other words, if you don't know what kind of person you want to become, how can you work to become that person? If you don't know what you want to be like, then who knows what you will become like?

When you establish Life Goals, they keep your mind focused upon where you are going (who you are becoming). Once you firmly know where you are going in your life, then you can choose the road (Life Rules) which will get you there. Make good choices. Pick good Life Goals!

What are your Top Level Life Goals? What do you want to be like when you grow up? How would you want other people to think about you, or say about you to other people? This page suggests a group of Life Goals and Life Rules. Of course it does not list all possible Goals and Rules.

Here is a list of some GOOD Life Goals. They are good for both those around you, and for yourself.

Here is a list of some BAD life goals.

As an exercise, write out your own set of Life Goals and Life Rules. You may use those above, or others you think of.

We can have main Life Goals. We can have sub-Life-Goals which help us reach our main Life Goals. Note how each of the sub-Life Goals below would aid you in reaching the Goal it is under. For example, Good student habits help you get A Good Education, which gives you Knowledge and skills, which help you Earn a good living.

Below are the same Life Goals listed above, but also showing some Life Rules to help reach those goals.

Be warned!

Look out for Life Goals or Life Rules which contradict each other! How can people trust you when you yourself have parts of your personhood which are at war with each other? When that happens, your behavior become unpredictable, therefore you are unreliable (as viewed by other people!).
