Relevancy
Today's lesson is a parable. It will become clear what it means.
Presentation
Readers take their places. Narrator waits for nod from teacher, to start.
Discussion
Sometimes people feel they are absolutely right without actually having the facts! Ricky being so sure he is not in any danger is an example.
Have any of you ever had the experience of someone not listening to reason, and telling you that you are wrong, when is it clear that you are right? Hands? Tell us about it, without using names.
Sometimes that kind of thinking is called egocentric thinking. That means they firmly believe what they think in their own head is the absolute truth. We will be studying this in the 8th grade.
Class
Discussion, teacher guided.
In the play, Ruth runs the risk of losing Ricky's friendship. Why did she do that?
What do you think about that?
Should she have risked that friendship? Why?
How would Ruth and her friends have felt if Ricky fell over the cliff and was killed?
If Ricky were killed, what sort of "soul searching" might Ruth and her friends have gone through?
Why are you so sure that YOU have The Truth? What is the evidence?
