Sutter's Fort and Modern Events
Traditional Blacksmithing and Buckskinning

crescentforge2.1.jpg

Several times a year B.I.S.S. or Blacksmiths In Sutter's Service hold an event at Mike Carson's shop in Woodland, CA that we like to call Anvilpalooza. Mike Carson is the owner of Hippocampus Forge. Most of us are demonstrators and interpreters, and we invite blacksmiths of all skill levels to participate, learn and have fun. This is just one way we strive to preserve the blacksmith's craft.
At Anvilpalooza we all have two things in common....FIRE and IRON!
These events give us the chance to swap ideas and learn new techniques without interuptions by the general public.
In other words, by blacksmiths for blacksmiths.

These events also give us a chance to
show off some of our "stuff".
As you can see below.

Sparky demonstrates the technique "forging ahead"

What's wrong with the above picture?

Sparky doesn't have a proper grip with the tongs
and Kieth isn't wearing his safety glasses.
Don't try this at home kids. We're trained professionals.
