I retired at the end of August 2001 after over thirty years in the travel business. It was a wonderful career that allowed
me to meet interesting people all over the world, and go to fascinating places I never imagined I'd experience. I'll always
be grateful to the people of Blythe for being my loyal clients for over three decades.
This picture is me trying my best to be an arab. It was taken far away, and many years ago. The reason I'm in those
robes and had let my beard grow was . . . but that's another story. What do you think? Did I make a convincing arab? No?
Well ok, how about a half convincing one?

| (L-R) HAYLEE, KAREN, HANNAH |
|
There are four grown children. Three of them were raised right here in Blythe.
The oldest son, Raymond, works at College of the Redwoods in Eureka, California. He designed and maintains the in-house
computer network at and between each of their campuses. He's developed a special interest in artificial intelligence. Go
figure, he already has lots of the real thing. Click on his picture to visit the beautiful campus of College Of The Redwoods.
Karen, the only daughter, is vice-principal at Atascadero High School in central California. She attended California
State University San Luis Obispo. Karen was a physical education major, but decided to switch to administration for her masters.
She loves teaching, and I'd bet she misses the classroom. I'm waiting for her to announce that she's working toward her
doctorate sometime soon. Click on her picture on the left to visit Atascadero High School's Website.
Another son, Steven, works for the California Department of Corrections in Norco. No, he's not an inmate! While growing
up, Steve wanted to do one of two things. He loved cooking, and the garbage trucks fascinated him as the drivers followed
their regular routes and schedules. Thankfully, he enrolled in the chef's program at College Of The Desert. Now he's a cooks
supervisor with several thousand guaranteed customers that never complain. Click on Steve's picture below to visit the California
Rehabilition Center in Norco.
The youngest, David, learned aircraft maintenance in the United States Navy where he spent eight years. When he left
the navy David spent about twelve years pursuing that trade in Arizona. Recently he's decided to keep his feet on the ground,
and is now a technician for one of our large local retailers.
I'm very proud of all of them, and love each one.

| DENISE AT HER GRADUATION WITH HUSBAND RAPHAEL |
|
There are five grandchildren (so far). The only grandson, Bryan, graduated in 2005 from California State University San Bernardino.
Bryan is planning to continue his education earning his masters and then on to a doctorate. He's a remarkably handsome young
man, and very athletic. Bryan majored in criminal justice, and is working for the Garden Grove, California Police Department.
In
September 2005 grandaughter, Denise, graduated from San Joaquin Valley College in Rancho Cucamonga, California, and is now
a dental hygienist. Denise won the major academic award given to a member of her class. She's an intelligent, beautiful
young lady. She ran for Miss Blythe several years ago, and I (Now here's an impartial opinion.) think she should have won
easily. A click on her photo will take you to San Joaquin Valley College's website.
Grandaughter Haylee, earned
a GPA of 4.23 in high school. She won a full basketball scholarship to the University Of California at Davis near Sacramento.
There she's majoring in computer science and intends to dominate the ladies basketball team. A click on her picture will
take you to the homepage of women's basketball at the University of California Davis.
Lindsey, another grandaughter,
is a junior at California State University San Bernardino. She is majoring in psychology, and is looking forward to a career
as a psychiatrist. Lindsey has promised, after completing her education, to give me free therapy. For the next few years
I intend to work on developing at least a few mental problems so as to be able to take advantage of her offer. She has been
a cheerleader throughout high school while maintaining a very high B average, and has qualified for the cheerleading team
at her chosen university. A click on her picture will take you to the homepage of California State University San Bernardino.
The
final grandaughter, Hannah, earned a full four year basketball scholarship at Stanford University. There she splits her time
between athletics and academics. She's a freshman this year, and has a great future.

Finally, yes I have a wife. She's a wonderful woman. She'd have to be to put up with me for nearly forty-five years. She
has, however, a real antipathy about computers, and has stated I'm not even to mention her name on my website. Like most
husbands of nearly half a century, I've learned to obey. Hence, I'm not going to mention Norma's name.
Thanks for sticking with me this far. You're either very curious and patient, or have way too much time on your hands.
There are three more links on this page. One goes to the Palo Verde Valley Times, our local newspaper. There you can
find out what's going on in the valley. Some folks, having read the Palo Verde Times throughly, are still curious to know
what's happening in the rest of the world. For those few, the world headlines are just below. Please click on any of them
for the full story.
Agriculture is Blythe's and the Palo Verde Valley's largest industry. The other two links go to our second largest industry,
the two state prisons located here. Then please stay with me for a page of pictures and links to good stuff in and around
our area. Just click on Floie's 5th Page. The site navigator is at the top left of this screen.
