ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Milagros Blanco (Millie) studied art and design when attending college. After many inactive
years interest in painting was fortunately regained. The strong inclination felt towards the beautiful icons prominently displayed
in Orthodox churches served as inspiration for many of her paintings. Milagros learned the ancient Byzantine Iconography techniques
while studying under Katherina Tsigas, a gifted Greek Iconographer of Lake Mary, FL, during 2005-06. Her traditional style
icons of exquisite beauty are made with gold leaf backgrounds.
Milagros feels that the pursuit of the art of
iconography is a means of expressing her love for the spiritual aspects of life. She uses painting as a way to capture images
and celebrate life.
In this album, several of the artist's favorite paintings are assembled. Some are Byzantine
icons, others are in various styles.
The Artist is a member
of the Central Orlando Artist League and of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at Orlando, FL.
