Inside November 2009

     Mark your calendars for the City of Morrow’s 3rd Annual Christmas in the Park! This special event will be held on December 5, 2009 beginning at 2pm. It will be held at Olde Towne Morrow, which is adjacent to Southlake Mall in Morrow. Christmas in the Park is an event that the entire community will enjoy and cherish as an annual event.

     Admission is free to the public. There will be area churches and non-profit organizations selling crafts, ornaments, and other items for fundraising from vignettes created by them. Guests will be able to walk around the area enjoying the atmosphere decorated with Christmas lights and many holiday scenes. A small train will be available for the guests as they stroll through the paths. One area will house a Winter Wonderland complete with real, eco-friendly snow, which is trucked in from Florida. Santa will be in attendance, and children may have photos taken with him.

     Entertainment will also be provided. Area church and school choral groups will be singing throughout the day. At the conclusion of the event, there will be a unison effort by the area choirs led by a selected choral director in the community. At the final crescendo of the hymn/carol, the large 40 ft. Christmas tree will be lit and remain lit throughout the season. A "Singing Christmas Tree" will also be present. The City of Morrow will create in Olde Towne Morrow what the Rich’s department store created for years in Atlanta with the "Lighting of the Great Tree."
