Jack Kelley Class of '54

Dear Judi and Billy, I came home this evening from a meeting and received the news of your father's passing. Another light in my life has been extinguished. You know how I always felt about your father. Fifty years later and I still think of him often as one of the great influences in my life. I would not be who I am or have the blessings that I have been blessed with without his having some part of my life. My heart goes out to you and Bill at this time. I never thought your father would live for ninety-two years. My fondest memories of him was when his blood pressure would rocket up to where he would be beet red jumping up and down with all the intensity and passion a man could muster. He had so much passion in life. Than there was the light side. I only saw it a couple of times but it was there. That sly smile. The little laugh. It let you know that all he wanted was your best and if it fell a little short, well, that was okay, it was only a game and next time we would try a little harder to be a little better. Those are lessons that have stuck with me all my life. I hope you are well. Speaking of memories there will always be Chimney Rock and that wonderful cruise on the Chesapeake that you arranged for us. Thank you for keeping us informed. My prayers are with you. Love, Jack
