National Commission for Certifying Agencies accredits NARM (2002)

Ohio State University finds that the process of becoming a CPM exhibits all the required characteristics of a competency-based program (1997)


CPM is a nationally certified direct-entry midwife who has proven competency and validated experience in the out-of-hospital setting. This credential is administered by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM).

MEAC is a U.S. Dept. of Education recognized accreditation agency that provides guidance, evaluation and accreditation of midwifery schools so that midwifery students receive high quality education.

NARM North American Registry of Midwives administers the CPM certification.
