How to become a Volunteer

We have two types of volunteers, Volunteer Anglers and volunteer Researchers.

Both Volunteer Anglers and Volunteer Researchers fish. Volunteer Anglers do almost exactly what Volunteer Researchers do.

Volunteer Anglers document what they catch on the data charts we provide them and may choose to document what other anglers catch. After recording their catch, Volunteer Anglers can keep or throw back what they catch as they choose. Volunteer Anglers get T-shirts, hot tips on fishing locations and a certificate of appreciation for their service.

Volunteer Researchers must document what everyone is catching at a location. Volunteer Researchers must release everything they catch (except bait fish). Volunteer Researchers can receive college biology credit, service hours, or other credit through any number of colleges and schools in Southern California. Volunteer Researchers are provided with a letter of recommendation, a sample of the data they have collected, photos of them in the field performing research and job or college references.

If you want to Volunteer, let us know what you want to Volunteer as and contact us at biolab@earthlink.net or write to the address above.
