Woman accused of demanding sidewalk toll
A Spokane woman faces an assault charge for allegedly attempting to charge a toll of passers-by on her sidewalk. According to police, 22 year-old Enjoli L. Luna and three others insisted that four passers-by pay $1.50 apiece to cross the sidewalk in front of her house at E.2123 Hartson.
The four men who were walking down the sidewalk refused the demand Friday night and were assaulted by Luna, another woman and two men, police said. The fight went badly for the four, and one of them called for a knife. Luna fetched a butcher knife from her house and cut one of the victims on the neck as the fight continued, according to police. That one of the attackers allegedly told Luna to get a gun, prompting the victims to run and call police.
Police said they found Luna sitting on her front porch, and the victims all identified her as the woman with the knife. She was booked into jail on suspicion of first degree assault.
