Lindberg
Another old Pyro kit. Orig. sold as
the US Revenue Cutter Harriet Lane,
sold by both Pyro and Lindberg as
the “Blockade Runner”.

Notes on out of production kits:

Even though they are out of production, many of these models are still available. Some were just poor sellers, and are still on store shelves. Others are available from dealers specializing in old models. Model companies tend to re-release subjects as the years go by.

Companies also buy and sell molds-- the same kit may resurface on the market years later under a different name. For example, in the last 20 years, the Harriet Lane model has been sold by 3 different companies: Pyro, Life-Like, and Lindberg (the most recent owner of the mold.)    Another example is Matchbox.  They no longer sell plastic models—the molds were sold to Revell-Germany, who has re-issued some of them.
