Try Out MITSYN - Downloads
To try out MITSYN please click on the desired platform in the following list to download a compressed archive file. Note that the size of this download (about two MB) is much smaller than most comparable program downloads which you may have tried. Thus MITSYN may be quickly downloaded and easily tried. This download file includes executable code, a tools library, help/documentation files, sample musical scores, and an Examples folder which includes example scripts and stream processing configurations. No "music" type hardware, e.g., a MIDI card or synthesizer, is needed, as the sound synthesis is effected by your PC's CPU.

- Windows Vista: We do not officially support this dog, but the XP version works fine for just about everyone.
- Ubuntu Linux
To setup, simply run (execute) the downloaded file, e.g., by running from the Download dialog box, or by double-clicking on the saved downloaded file. The file is named "MITSYN_version.exe" where version represents variable version identification. The setup process will offer you a few options, and will then unpack and assemble files grouped into a directory tree below a top level MITSYN program (installation) directory.
The downloaded file is a compressed archive file in the "Self-extracting ZIP file format". Although there is no need to do so (unless the aforementioned automatic installation procedure failed), the contents of MITSYN_version.exe may be viewed by using any archive file manager which supports the ZIP format (they almost all do, and one is the popular WinZip). Thus you may also access individually any of the files such as the base language reference manual (a PDF file) and example files without doing an "installation" by extracting the desired files using any archive file manager.
An installation option which doesn't use the automatic unpack and install is to use your file archive program to manually extract all the files into a temporary directory, and then run the "setup.exe" file found in the top level temporary directory. This manual procedure gives you more control, allowing you to adjust your system settings should the automatic procedure fail due to system protection issues.
Should you wish to do so, MITSYN may be easily and completely removed from your system by simply deleting the MITSYN installation directory tree. This is so since the MITSYN setup doesn't add any files to directories other than its own (e.g., it does not add any DLLs into the system directory), and thus will not cause unpleasant side effects to happen to your system.
Ubuntu Linux Platform
The Windows XP platform version of MITSYN runs moderately well on the Ubuntu Linux platform using the the current Wine package (see WineHq.org). You first download (from WineHq.org) and install Wine on your system. Then execute the downloaded MITSYN XP platform installation file by either entering on a command line the command "wine MITSYN_XP_License_0.exe", or by right-clicking the file and choosing "Open with Wine Windows Program Loader". This will start Wine which will in turn install MITSYN.
The problems that we currently are aware of is that tooltips don't always appear (bummer), and only one audio output stream at a time is supported (whereas under Windows any number of audio output streams will be automatically mixed). The base languages reference manual is in PDF format, and easily viewed using the default PDF viewer. Please advise us of any other infelicities which you find.
