Frank Cetnarski (September 10, 1894 - June 5, 1952)

Frank M. Cetnarski of 52 Merriam Street, died at his home yesterday after a brief illness.

Born in Poland, he lived in this city for the past 40 years.  He was formerly employed at the Manning and Bowman plant.  He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and a member of the Knights of the Blessed Virgin.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Mary Cetnarski, four daughters, Mrs. Charles Nemic, Mrs. Walter Ginter, of Stamford, Mrs. John Cash, of East Greenwich, R. I., and Miss Veronica Cetnarski, of this city; a son, Paul Cetnarski, of this city, a brother, Stanley Cetnarski, of Poland, a sister, Mrs. Frank Bigdon of Rutland, Vermont, and several grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 8:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad Street and at 9 at St. Stanislaus Church.  Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

The funeral of Frank M. Cetnarski of 52 Merriam Street was held Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad Street and at 9 at St. Stanislaus Church.  A solemn requiem high mass was celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Barlowski assisted by the Rev. John J. Sobolewski and the Rev. Joseph A. Mik.  Burial was in St. Stanislaus Cemetery where Father Barlowski gave the final benediction.

The pallbearers who represented the Knights of the Blessed Virgin of which the deceased was a member were Alfred Bogacz, Walter Zajac, Felix Kwasniewski, Peter Stefanowicz, Louis Tylec and Anthony Grodziecki.


Mary Cetnarski (January 14, 1888 - September 11, 1956)

Mrs. Mary Cetnarski, of 52 Merriam Street, widow of Frank Cetnarski, died early this morning at the Meriden Hospital, after a short illness.

Born in Poland, she had lived in Meriden for 40 years, and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus' Church, and a member of the Knights of the Blessed Virgin of that parish.

Mrs. Cetnarski is survived by four daughters, Mrs. John Cash, of Norfolk, Va., Mrs. Walter Ginter, of Stamford, Mrs. Charles Nemic and Mrs. Joseph Laskowski, both of Meriden; one sister in Poland, and eight grandchildren.

The funeral will take place Thursday at 8:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad Street, and at 9 o'clock in St. Stanislaus' Church.  Burial will be in the family plot in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery.

Mrs. Frank Cetnarski

The funeral of Mrs. Mary Cetnarski, of 52 Merriam Street, was held yesterday morning from the Stempien Funeral Home at 8:45, and at 9 in St. Stanislaus' Church.  The Rev. Stephen Ptasynski was celebrant of the solemn requiem high mass, assisted by the Rev. Henry Feidorczyk and the Rev. Ladislaus Kaminski.  Father Ptasynski officiated at the commital in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery.  The Holy Rosary and Sacred Heart Societies, of which the deceased was a member, attended the services in a body.

The pallbearers, all Knights of the Blessed Virgin, were Stanley Kania, Simon Roguz, Louis Tylec, John Giera, John Borek and Fank Piatek.

STEPHEN PTAK'S FUNERAL TODAY
Burial in St. Michael's Cemetery Following Church Services.

The funeral of Stephen Ptak, husband of Anna Ptak, of 11 Caroline street, who died Saturday morning after a brief illness at his home, was held this morning with a number of relatives and friends in attendance. The funeral took place from the funeral home of Edward F. Adzima, Factory street, at 8:30 o'clock and at 9 o'clock at St. Michael's church where the requiem mass was celebrated by the Rev. Michael Gryglak.

Present at the obsequies were relatives and friends from Hartford, Brookfield, New Milford, Meriden, Bridgeport, as well as from the surrounding cities and towns. Interment took place in St. Michael's cemetery, Silver Hills where Father Gryglak read the committal prayers. The pallbearers were John Kudej, Walter Skiba, Jacob Golis, Frank Lachowski, Thomas Halat and John Lenart. The arrangements were in charge of Edward F. Adzima and John E. Stobierski.

Mrs. Ptak Dies; City Resident for 50 Years

Mrs. Anna Ptak of 278 Caroline Street died at her home yesterday afternoon after an extended illness. She was the widow of Stephen Ptak.

Born in Kolbusvowa, Poland, Mrs. Ptak came to Derby 50 years ago.

She is survived by a son, Anthony Ptak, of Seymour; two daughters, Mrs. Angelas Devonshuk and Mrs. Sophie Puro, both of Derby; two brothers, John [S]urowiec of Newington and Vincent [S]urowiec of Poland, a sister, Agnes of Poland, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of the Holy Rosary Society and St. Ann's Widow's Society.

Funeral services at 9:30 a. m. Thursday from the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 353 Elizabeth St, with a blessing at 10 in St. Michael's Church.

Interment will be in the family lot in St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours are today from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9.


Stephen Joseph Pomykala (December 26, 1870 - March 18, 1949)

Stephen J. Pomykala

Stephen Joseph Pomykala, widower of Mrs. Mary Orzech Pomykala, died Friday morning in New Milford hospital, where he had been a patient for two weeks. He was born in Poland, December 26, 1870, a son of Joseph and Mary P[o]mykala. He came to this country in 1900 and settled in New Milford.

Mr. Pomykala was a member of St Francis Xavier church and of the Holy Name Society.

He is survived by a daughter, Miss Mary Pomykala, and two sons, Michael and Stanley Pomykala, all of New Milford; by two sisters, Mrs. Hedwig Marowa, of Newark, N. J., and Mrs. Catherine Orzech of Meriden, and by a brother Lafrence Pomykala, of Clifton, N. J.

Funeral services were held Monday morning from the Lillis Funeral Home and at St. Francis Xavier church. The Rev. Stanley Kwasnik, assistant pastor, celebrated a requiem high mass.

Relatives and friends attended from Meriden, Kent, Bridgeport and New Milford.

The bearers were Albert Huver, John Drzal, Paul Syniec, Joseph Pruchnik, Jacob Orzech and Joseph Nabzona. Burial was in St. Francis Xavier cemetery. Fr. Kwasnik read the committal services.

Members of the Holy Name Society and the Andrew B. Mygatt post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, paid respects at the funeral home Sunday evening.

Mary Orzech Pomykala (abt 1881 - October 26, 1918)

Mrs. Mary Pom[y]kala, wife of Stevens [sic] Pomykala, died Saturday at her home on Mill street from the effects of influenza complicated with pneumonia, following a short illness. The deceased was thirty-one years of age and a native of Austria. She had been a resident here but a short time, besides the husband, four children, the youngest but three weeks old, survive. Undertaker Gesell had charge of the funeral, which was held Monday. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery.


Paul Peter Ptak (March 30, 1893 - March 3, 1972)

Paul Peter Ptak, 78, a retired Brookfield farmer, died Friday morning at Danbury Hospital after a short illness.

He was born in Widelka, Poland March 30, 1893, a son of the late Wojciech and Mary (Golema) Ptak.

A resident of Brookfield for the past 35 years, Mr. Ptak recently retired from his Pokono Road Farm which he owned and operated.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Church of Brookfield.

Mr. Ptak leaves two sons, Felix and Edward of Brookfield, two daughters, Mrs. Walter Hagley and Mrs. Valerian Kodz, both of Brookfield; four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford, to St. Joseph's Church, Brookfield at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in the spring.

The funeral home will be open Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and after 7 p.m.


John Paul Syniec (May 16, 1893 - December 10, 1980)

John Syniec
John Paul Syniec, 87, 14 Poplar Street, New Milford, died Dec. 10 at his home after a brief illness.

Mr. Syniec was born in Kolbuszowa, Poland, May 16, 1893, son of the late Anthony and Salomea Kenig Syniec. He came to the United States in 1914, settling in New Milford. He was employed for 48 years by the New Milford Center Cemetery Association, many of those years serving as sexton before his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.

He leaves two sons, Paul T. Syniec and Joseph F. Syniec, both of New Milford; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Bidwell of Meriden; one sister, Mrs. Anna Kleczek of Kolbuszowa; and nine grandchildren.

The funeral was held Saturday from Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., to St. Francis Church for a mass. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery.

Anna Brutz Syniec (Jun 17, 1899 - August 14, 1958)

Mrs. J. Paul Syniec

Mrs. Anna Sophia (Brutz) Syniec, 59, wife of J. Paul Syniec, died August 14 at her home on Poplar St., after a long illness.

A daughter of the late Kazimierk and Eva (Kramurz) Brutz, she came to this country in 1912 and has been a resident of New Milford for the past 38 years. Mrs. Syniec was born in Poland, June 17, 1899 and married Mr. Syniec in Meriden, Oct. 12, 1920. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church and a past president of the Polish Rosary Society and the Religion and Citizenship Club.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Joseph F. and Paul T. Syniec, both of New Milford; a daughter, Mrs. Donald Bidwell of Meriden; three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Stel, East Chicago, Ind., Mrs. Joseph Gaz, Meriden, and Mrs. Mary Franc, Bethel, and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Lillis Funeral Home to St. Francis Xavier Church for a Mass at 10:30. Burial took place in St. Francis Cemetery.
