1-20-12- new Letter to the Editor sent to the Strib- not expecting publication:
All of the goals and duties cited by the Indian tribal leaders also hold true for the state government leaders. Since
a former "leader", Skippy Humphrey, failed miserably as the state representative when he negotiated the gaming compact the
tribes enjoy, we must find another way to generate revenue for the state from the massive amount of gambling going on here.
Every other state put in a sunset renegotiaiton clause, but we are unique in granting the no-tax-revenue-to-the-state clause
FOREVER. Nothing in those clauses prevents us from opening competing casinos to generate revenues. Our state Constitution
also allows casinos and gambling by statute. The state AG finding by Mike Hatch was nothing but a political smokescreen when
he was actively running against Pawlenty, who wanted a casino. The opinion was a masterful piece of circular reasoning,
encompassing more pages of questionable assumptions than our entire state conmstitution. If it didn't, there wouldn't have
been a need for legislatures past to enact a whole section in the state laws specifically outlawing types of gambling, and
regulating others like pull tabs.
12-30-11- Added new Global Warming essay on the GW page
12-30-11- Commentary submitted to ther RedStar, not expecting
publication: "In your "Letter of the Day" on Friday, Clara Grace James writes that "We are criminalizing people of color
such that they comprise 90 percent of the juveniles in the Hennepin County Detention Center". That is entirely incorrect,
and one of those irrelevant factoids so loved by those who want to help others (always with other people's money). Those
juveniles are actuually committing criminal acts, therefore they are detained. The color of their skin is irrelevant
when they are caught red-handed. It does not help any that their older relatives and neighbors specifically target these kids
to do their street crimes for them because the juvenile will get off sooner and it is much harder to convict the shadowy ringleader
than the kid who actually swipes something. Maybe if the juvenile records of those adult thugs were more routinely available
to the justice system, they could put those guys away forever. Of course, the same people who want to help the poor with transit
to the manufacturing jobs in the suburbs are the ones who used zoning laws, pollution laws, noise laws, endless nuisance code
compliance laws, OSHA laws, and tax laws to chase jobs out of the city, removing the ability of the poor to make a living
anywhere near their neighborhood. And finally, the idea of "mass" transit from the inner city to jobs that are spread thinly
around a vast suburban area is ludicrous. The very concept of mass transit is to move a very widespread populace to
a concentrated area of work, a ship that has already sailed in this metro area. "
10-24-11- On Monday Oct 24 2011, the RedStar posted
a Letter of the Day as follows: "A recent letter writer asked if there are buyers out there for the
Chevy Volt. The answer is definitely "yes." I have owned my Volt since June after being on a waiting list
for three months and having to buy it from out-of-state. Yes, the Volt is definitely the most expensive
car my family has owned, but just as we pay extra for wind energy and organic foods, we think it is a good investment in the
future of our planet. While running errands I estimated that about a third of vehicles I saw were
in the Volt's price range or higher. Like many of those vehicles, my Volt is a beautiful car with
amazing technology. Unlike the others, my Volt is getting well over 900 miles per gallon and is costing me only about $17
per month to drive. Are there disadvantages? Absolutely! Since I haven't stopped at a gas station
in four months, my windows are getting very dirty. And I doubt that I could ever be happy with a nonelectric
car again. The easy acceleration and incredibly quiet drive of an electric car makes gas-powered cars, even ones I used to
love, seem like dinosaurs. Certainly the Volt is not for everyone. However, those
of us who can support this new technology today will allow it to become more typical and thus cheaper technology for tomorrow.
ROBIN COUNCILMAN, ST. LOUIS PARK" The expected-to-not-be-published-by-the-RedStar letter I sent questioned whetther
Robin will return the $7000 welfare check we all wrote so she could experince those good feelings from her "green" car.
6-26-11- Letter submitted to the
RedStar, not expecting to be published. I find it hilarious that your cartoonist descibes Dayton as in
the middle. How? He wants to expand state sending by 8% in his 1st year in a recession. He wants to increase
taxes on the rich by 63% (8% to 13%), an increase that is massive by any measure. Put another way, he wants to raise
those person's taxes by $100,000 each. And republicans stuck in a block of cement? How about the "tax the rich mantra"
of the Democrats? Or their never ending cry for increased spending to pay off the teachers union, regardless of the
results? The Democrats and Dayton should be depicted as a bunch of fat lemmings feeding on tax dollars as they all run
over the bankruptcy cliff, all the while dragging the rest of us down with them.
3-12-11- In response to an inane editorial by the RedStar
attacking Michelle Bachman on4-12-11. Was it a secret appropriation? The bill was not printed or posted
on the internet, and the Dems added at least 500 pages after the "debate" started (no amendments allowed) and they had
ceremoniously displayed the copy of the bill at the House Presiding Officer desk. Then it wasn't available for the public
to read for days after it passed. Yeah, it was secret appropriations; heck, the whole stinking bill was secret. Remember Pelosi's
snarky quote? "But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it,". Finally, if you are going to accuse
Michelle of violating the 9th commandment with the snide false witness line, then let's charge the Dems with violating the
6th by stealth funding murder (abortions) with Planned Parenthood appropriations. I presume this new-found respect for
the 10 commandments also means you will be publishing an editorial tomorrow asking Congress to not work on a sabbath (4th),
and of course, all rhetoric about the rich having to pay their fair share will have to cease (10th). Bill G.
12-15-10- from the Education Minnesota Retired site,
in the form of a talking points memo for teachers: "Taxpayers do not pay your pension. You paid about 1/2 as a direct deduction
from your salary while the other half was costed against each salary settlement ñ in other words you paid every cent of the
investment. The rest is earnings from that investment." In what fantasy world is it not taxpayer money? They are
paid with tax money, and the crap about "costed against each salary settlement" means the school district or the state put
it in, and every dime they have is taxpayer money. This begs the question, do government employees pay taxes?
What if they were exempt from all taxes, but we reduced their salary for a net zero effect? Wouldn't they still have
exactly the same anount of cash? Wouldn't we save a bunch of bureaucratic red tape (read "money") by eliminating the
farce of paying them with tax money so they can pay it back as taxes? So far, every dollar involved had to pay a
red tape fee for the original earner to keep track of pay the taxes, the government to collect it, the teacher to keep
track, and for the government to re-collect it. By the time we get done fooling around, half the money has been spent
just keeping track of it.
8-6-10- the 8-4-10 entry of the letter submitted to
the Strib was published on 8-5-10
8-4-10- Letter submitted to RedStar (not expecting publication)- Isn't
it rich to see a complaint in your paper by Move-On.org, an organization underpinned by literally millions of George Soros'
money that exists purely to influence elections, complaining about sombody else (Target's measly $150K) trying to "buy" an
election. Guess they don't like someone else horning in on their turf.
4-30-10- Letter submitted to the RedStar (not expecting publication)
"In yet another example of why we need to quit the UN the United Nations has put Iran on its commission on the status of women
which it says is dedicated to gender equity and the advancement of women. Really. Sort of like putting Hitler on the Board
of the Holocaust Museum. What a bunch of Useless Nincompoops."
4-24-10- Added 2 essays to the Random Politician page and 2 to the RedStar fluff
page.
4-24-10- time to start updating this on a regular basis- the craziness in DC is
becoming __________ (unbearable, ludicrous, ridiculous, dangerous, maniacal, toxic; take your pick).
10-21-09- Quote: Chairman Max Baucus , D- Mont., regarding posting bills
72 hours before a vote- "It's all good faith," he said. "It's based on comity. We work together. We trust each other.
And that's worked very, very well." Who is he kidding? We, the People, don't trust any of them, and the
omnibus, pork-barrel crap coming out of Congress gets worse every year!
6-2-09- Added comments to predictions 7, 11, 16, & 20 on the Obama predictions
page.
5-5-09- Added comments to 3, 7, 11, 18, 19, and 20 on the Obama predictions page. Looking
real good there.
2-6-09- Fairness Doctrine and the intellectually challenged Senator Debbie Stabenow
on the Random Politician Page.
1-27-09- Pelosi, baby hater on the Random Politician page.
1-24-08- Added BHO Arrogance page
1-16-08- One last prediction for Obama. See the last prediction on that page.
1-16-08- So Hillary's State Department will watchdog Bill's bribe money flow
and avoid the appearance of any monkey business. Will that be done as well as she guarded his zipper? How about as well as
she keeps track of legal papers that are subpoenaed and mysteriously show up ON HER COFFEE TABLE just days after the statute
of limitations on the crimes they reveal expired? Or maybe she will track it as well as her $10,000 cattle future that went
up 900% while every other investor her broker handled lost money? Chest waders don't go nearly high enough to protect you
from what she is shoveling. The old saying is this is like the fox guarding the chicken coop, but I suppose tit
it more like the Hen guarding the Fox den.
11/04/08- See the 08 election cycle page for predictions of the disaster that will be the Obama-Pelosi-Reid left
wing looney regime.
9-30-08- I love how the "leaders" of Congress are blaming the bailout failure
on partisianship. 66% of Republicans and 40% of Democrats voted against it- that is true BI-partisianship. These
buffoons who "lead" Congress are being exposed for the frauds they really are like the Wizard of Oz when Toto pulls back the
curtain.
9-26-08- watched 3 questions in the debate tonight (the Twins were more
important). All 3 happened to be to Obama- he never answered any of them. He gave one short sentence that was
vaguely related to the question, and then he would say " the real question here", or "the question we really need to know",
or "what's really important here" and then head off into the stump speech. He also had lots of specifics about McCain's
proposals, but his own were generalities like "we need to do health care for everyone" or some other vague promise like
"95% of Americans will get a tax cut". He did say he would eliminate corporate tax loopholes, remove corporate tax breaks
etc. Of course, all those cost increases to business can have only 2 possible results. Either they raise prices,
effectively taxing everyone, no matter how poor. Or they lose market share to a foreign company who doesn't have
to pay those taxes, and we get job losses to go along with the lost taxes and even larger imbalance of trade. Talk about
an economic disaster waiting to happen.
See the 2008 election page
8-22-08- peice on "Peaceful religion of Islam" on general essay; short comment and
pasted article.
8-12-08 Barack Middle East policy advisor is GEORGE CLOONEY??!!!
see 2008 page.
7-28-08 See 2008 election page
7-26-08 T. Boone Pickens and GE- the ultimate hypocrites.
TBP & GE have gone green, promoting wind and anything else other than oil. TBP claims expert status on the issue
because he is "an oilman", but he leaves out that he is much bigger in wind and natural gas, both of whom cannot compete with
oil as an energy source without subsidies. He just wants wind because he can cry "the earth is dying" and get crooked
politicos like Algorical to give him your tax money, and he can use the power of eminent domain to route his power lines.
GE has put way too many eggs in the wind turbine basket, which comes out at at least twice the cost of coal electricity, so
they are taking the same cynical pork trough approach. The CEO has managed to take a huge company and drive it into
the ground while stealing millions of dollars of profit for himself and having to spin off the GE appliance division because
he is too incompetent to run it. HE ought to be canned and made to return every penny above minimum wage he ever took from
GE.
7-11-08 So Bush DIDN'T lie, and Move-on and all the other loony lefties did:
"The last major remnant of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear program – a huge stockpile of concentrated natural uranium
– reached a Canadian port Saturday to complete a secret U.S. operation that included a two week airlift from Baghdad
and a ship voyage crossing two oceans. "
550 tons of yellowcake- the stuff the lying, traiterous Wilson and wifey Valerie said they didn't even TRY
to buy.
6-30-08 when will the idiots running this country or living in a flood plain realize that the rivers will always
win until we stop trying to "protect" farmland? Move the lowest houses to high ground, design the levees to protect
towns only and use the farmland levees as a relief valve to lower downstream crests.
4-29-08 Regarding Al Franken and his inability to pay his corporate taxes (in multiple states):
there is a phrase from a song that is so appropriate. From Sunshine by Jonathan Edwards: "He
can't even run his own life, I'll be damned if he'll run mine"
4-28-08 lot of speculation that Hillary is running so hard so Obama will lose so she can be the
nominee in 2012. Quite possibly true. Also note, that Obama could be so bad if he did get in that he would not
stand for re-election in 2012. With his tax and spend and surrender policies, he could be in a recession, with reduced
tax revenues and increased spending, huge deficits, and a full scale civil war raging in Iraq with us not there. If
that happens, the American people may very well want "change" again, back to what we have now. Of course, if Hillary
does get the nomination this time she will probably lose due to such poor black turnout. What state is she going to
take away from the Red state column? Arkansas isn't enough.
4-28-08 Hillary talked about annihilating Iran if they nuked Israel, and even offering the same
umbrella to Saudi Arabia and other sheikdoms in the area. Not bad, but since she constantly votes to reduce nuclear
capability, ban testing, unilaterally disarm, and not fund missile defense, she is just shoveling it. The new policy
should be SAD (singularly assured destruction). Simply put, a WMD attack against any country that asks to be under our
defense umbrella guarantees the destruction of the political entity that made the attack. If the attack is made by a
puppet like Hamas, the puppeteer (Iran and possibly Syria) disappears also.
4-28-08 Anyone else think Warren Buffet is just running off his mouth about how bad this "recession"
is and how long it will last just to buy time for him to swallow up more companies at bargain prices?
