BICYCLING MAGAZINE selected Irvine as
one of 5 "towns"
in the 2004 BikeTown USA program.
The March/April issue has articles about our town and the other
4 from 2004
The BCI helped welcome 50 new riders to cycling!

GIANT
supplied Sedona
LX ATBs including CatEye lights and Velo 5 cyclometers
that were assembled & prepped by Two
Wheels One Planet
Recipients also got Bell Helmets, Kryptonite Locks, Pearl Izumi
shorts and BCI Membership!
The presentation was held in Woodbridge Park on July 17th and
included
City of Irvine's mayor Larry Agran,
along with council members Beth Krom and Mike Ward.
Thanks to all of the BCI members who joined the presentation
in the middle of our Saturday ride
& especially all of those who stayed behind to help recipients
choose their bike size, & get helmets & seat posts adjusted. Welcome New BCI Members!
As part of our support to the BikeTown
USA program, the recipients have been offered membership in the
BCI
Just send in the membership form in the BCI packet in the 'goody
bag' that came with your bike!
The packet included a welcome, membership
form, our etiquette
page and a copy of the book; Street
Smarts.
We also packed in a copy of Irvine's
and Orange
County's bike route maps.
Bill Sellin grabbed one of
the Sedonas for the short ride with the recipients who were ready
to ride with us.
The comfort saddle, suspension seat post & forks make for
a very comfy ride,
and he had a few suggestions
and a shopping
list for the new owners to consider...
