Polytonal Rhythm Series
The Polytonal Rhythm Series is a culmination of teaching and practicing concepts developed over thirty five years which takes all the guesswork out of practicing by employing a systematic approach for the student. The series is most often used by jazz students and improvisors, but "legitimate" players would also find The Polytonal Rhythm Series most beneficial to improve technical ability and reading skills. The Polytonal Rhythm Series employs accidentals rather than key signatures making the studies easier to play and read and thereby accustoms the student to reading accidientals. Playing through The Polytonal Rhythm Series, causes the student to practice in a positive manner which guarantees reuslts in the shortest possible time. Although the books in this series can be studied in any order at the discretion of the individual, the recommended first book in The Ploytonal Rhythm Series is The Diatonic Cycle because it covers one tonal center per page going through all the diatonic modes and diatonic seventh chords. Upon completion of The Diatonic Cycle
book the student will have a working knowledge of the twelve major and
twelve harmonic minor keys or dialects. The Diatonic Cycle studies prepare
the student for the subsequent books in the series, each of which goes
through twelve dialectal keys on each page. |
