Emile De Cosmo Laura De Cosmo

Emile De Cosmo has been active as a teacher, musician, and jazz clinician for over 25 years. Playing woodwind instruments, he has free lanced in the New York area with many noted musicians on T.V. and radio commercial sound tracks, club dates, concerts, and shows. Formerly an Adjunct Professor of Jazz Improvisation at Jersey City State College, an Applied Music intructor at Jersey City State College and Farleigh Dickinson University, Concert/Marching /Jazz Band Director at Fort Lee High School, and Artist in Residence/Teacher/Mentor for the Jersey City school district.

He is the author and publisher of "The Polytonal Rhythm Series", a 19 book collection that has been endorsed by Paquito D"Rivera, Jamey Aebersold, Denis De Blasio, Slide Hampton, John Faddis, Clem DeRosa, Clark Terry, Bill Watrous, "Friday the 13th" film composer Harry Manfredini, Pat La Barbara and symphony conductor Gerard Schwartz and many other leading professionals.

Recording Credits

Laura De Cosmo is a professional pop/jazz musician who has worked in the New Jersey and New York metropolitan area playing flute, saxophone, clarinet and singing. She has experience in big band, small group, orchestra, and pit orchestra playing and continues to be involved in many facets of music publishing, including editing, sales, and instructional clinics. She currently teachs music in Pinellas County, FL.

Currently, Laura and Emile De Cosmo are feature writers for "Saxophone Journal" magazine. They also write a jazz column for a weekly St. Petersburg publication in Florida. "The Woodshedding Source Book", "The Path to Jazz Improvisation", and "The Cycle Of Fifths", "The Diatonic Cycle", the two latest book in De Cosmo's series is co-authored with his wife Laura. The four books are published by the Hal Leonard Corporation. The De Cosmo's are now active musicians and music educators in the Tampa Bay Area in Florida.
