Die hard Hole fans are going to be very disappointed and disgusted with this highly anticipated and longly overdue album. It sounds like Belinda Carlisle covering crappy Fleetwood Mac like songs!!!! All the songs on the album are slow paced and not one shout. Track 11 is the only okay song on the album, which is called "Playing Your Song". And I think the songs Billy helped with are the worst ones on the album, so he certainly was not a great help to this album contrary to belief. And then the new feature article of Hole in Spin magazine is not going to help Hole either. It pretty much depicts Courtney as a Hollywood bitch or at least that was me and my friends interpretation. The Patty thing really bothers me. They kicked Patty out the band for her drug usage. Very ironic of Courtney, don't you think? Anyway, after listening to their new album a few times just to be sure I was not missing anything and reading the article in Spin, I realized I know longer like Hole. Patty said she did not like the direction the band was going. I totally agree!! Therefore, Patty rocks and Courtney sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! --------------- MESSAGE wordsandguitar.v001.n329.2 --------------- From: Kill Yr Idols Subject: KRS web site + other shit Date: Mon, 7 Sep 1998 17:41:40 -0400 (EDT) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII I dunno about the one the went up a few months ago...but I know a friend of mine is working on a new one that should have on-line ordering and that sorta stuff...dunno when it is supposed to go up...but I think the addy will be http://www.killrockstars.com but it should be pretty rad and in the style of the mailorder freaks stuff... also does anybody know if the mailorder freaks thingy will go past this year? SK could play The Roxy..they attract a big enough crowd to fill this place..i mean the troc theare in philly is twice the size of the roxy and it was packed! I HIGHLY recommend this place..sonic youth, jon spencer blues explosion, cub, etc have all had fantastic shows here and its all ages with seated sections and a large floor area below the stage! 404-233-7699 2. The Variety Playhouse..this is a nice, fairly large theatre..it has seats and a floor section..lot of big name indie rock bands played here..the supersuckers, ani difranco, medeski/martin/wood..it has a nice theatre-ish atmosphere and NO alcohol! 404-521-1786 3. The Masquerade..even though i personally despise this place cuz its so pretentiously "gothic"...(ya know the three floors, heaven/purgatory/hell..the dance floor being hell and the concert hall being heaven..blah) it is a major venue where a LOT of indie bands have played..ive seen the jesus lizard, supernova, jon spencer blues explosion, etc there and its a pretty large place..a lot of top 40 alternative bands play here so its a multipurpose venue.. www.masq.com or 404-577-8178 masq@masq.com 4. The Fox Theate..yah im sure they could fill this place, but the ticket prices may be high, i mean it is the Fox.. (404) 881-2100 5. The Cotton Club..dont know much about this place but the murmurs, tuscadero, and other have played here..buts its 18+ 404-874-1993 6. And then there is of course Athens, GA..that looming college town 66 miles east of atlanta where the tap water is beer and the vehicle of choice is a Jeep Wrangler with UGA plates..they have some big venues..i know they could do the 40 watt club..also, there is the Ultra Mod compound..The Kindercore was a sucess in athens so i know there are a lot of places to play and the Kindercore crew could totally help you out with setting up a show.. 7. Of course if SK had a desire to adhere to their DIY roots, they could play an old school warehouse/auditorium/floor show at the SouthWest Cultural Community Center..a show hasnt been held there in a while..the last i can remember was the promise ring and texas is the reason in late 96, but i know there were more shows there and its a big place.. stickfigure@phyte.com this is the guys who books most of atlanta's DIY shows and knows all the venues, big and small.. 8. There is always Under the Couch on the campus of Georgia Tech..a Lot of indie.emo bands play there and its the size of the point minus the annoying bar with drunk people..its very DIY and its a nice, cozy place for an intimate show..it has a raised stage, good lighting, and its on the beautiful campus of the 3rd best technical school in the country...if you get bored you can go to the building where the vehicle that drove the surface of mars was developed.. stickfigure@phyte.com 9. If the band is creative they could have a night show at a park or something, like at piedmont park..or they could have a show at the Atlanta Civic Center..or the Alexander Memorial Collesium on the Campus of Georgia Tech..they have big bands play there during the basketball off season, cuz the court is converted into a large stage.. so thats a lot of suggestions..thanks for your cooperation.. p.s. the bangs show may have not had a large turnout but you have to account for the fact that they are a new band, and that they were band #3 at 5 pm out of 6 or 7 bands at a Hardcore fest..those hardcore.emo kids dont go for the bangs ya know.. mikey* --------------- MESSAGE wordsandguitar.v001.n329.11 --------------- From: Sonic1979X@aol.com Subject: Re: Digest wordsandguitar.v001.n328 Date: Tue, 8 Sep 1998 02:07:43 EDT MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit In a message dated 98-09-07 16:14:06 EDT, you write: << Also, YUMMY FUR >> i gotta give you props for this band julie..i just got their record from a friend today and its incredible..nothing like a british girly punk pop band with a 67 song cd to get you started!! mikey* --------------- MESSAGE wordsandguitar.v001.n329.12 --------------- From: Rachel Kramer Bussel Subject: elliott smith tramps Date: Tue, 8 Sep 1998 07:21:42 -0400 (EDT) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Well, I don't know if it's canceled or not, they don't seem to be advertising the Oct. 4th show but they sold me a ticket to it, so I presume it's still on. The Bangs single will come out on Oct. 1 on 10-in-1 records and will be available through KRS mailorder, K mailorder and in stores. The songs are Maggie the Cat, Get Electric, and Lights Out.
