I've had 2 people offer to me personaly and one person post to the list about scanning pictures for people. Do some of you want to have people scan your pics? I was thinking of posting the addresses of the 3 people and you can send one of them your picture and a self addressed stamped envelope so that it can be returned to you. Is there a need for this? Does anybody want this? Chad Q. and I had this bangs/the bangs conversation not too long ago. =) Irene: thanks for the London show info! ---bgrrrl ps: send in those profiles! Reminds me again why i like S-K so much, the're good on CD, but live they are more then awesomely fantastic. Both shows where good, Londen being somewhat bigger and Oxford being somewhat wilder. To bad i couldn't make it to Liverpool to see the show that is going on as i write this. For more in dept comment, you'll have to wait till Reinier gets back. He's got most of the set-lists and some photos and things like that. For now words can not express the atmosphere of the shows, as you'll all have experienced before. Both were excellent shows, with the King's one better, because of more songs and a much better atmosphere, also support from The Hangovers and Clinic. Danced next to Manda at King's and saw Jarvis, and also Steve Lamacq from Radio One. Manda and John Disco were also watching SK at Reading. SK have been getting top reviews/previews in the music press in the UK - the On gig of the week in the NME. Seems like the UK are finally waking up to the joys of Sleater Kinney. rich --------------- MESSAGE wordsandguitar.v001.n327.14 --------------- From: jimmy Subject: BBC Radio 1 Interview Date: Sun, 06 Sep 1998 09:00:26 -0400 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" transcript of s-k's sep 2 BBC Radio 1 interview is here: http://my.voyager.net/jimmy/BBC.html but i'll just paste it below too. apparently the BBC will be broadcasting the entire 4-song session sometime in the future. they only played 'one more hour' live on the broadcast of this interview. (thanks to UK-er patrick for transcribing this) xjimmy ------------------ Steve Lamacq (DJ) : Recording a session at our Maida Vale studios today are Corin, Carrie and Janet. How was Reading festival for you? Did you have a good time? S-K : Yeah, it was fun, it was great. DJ : Any particular bands that you saw that were good? Were you down the front for bis? S-K : Yes we were actually, at 11.30 in the morning and they were great and we saw this band called Clinic and they were excellent. DJ : Thats lucky because you're playing with them aren't you? S-K : Yeah we actually like them, very lucky! DJ : It would have been terrible if you had hated them and then had to play gigs with them afterwards! So, for people who don't know, 'Dig me out', is that your third album? S-K : Yes it is. DJ : Because I bought 'Dig me out' last year when I came over for CMJ, about this time last year. I went into a megastore on Times Square and bought about 6 cd's, went up to the counter and the girl who was putting them through the till, when it got to your record, she went "great choice, all the rest dismissed in a bag, but yours "great choice". So how long have you been over here? Have you been playing a few dates? S-K : Yeah, we have been here about a week. We played in Scotland in Glasgow and Edinburgh, and Brighton last night, a really amazing show, all the kids were dancing and it was really fun. Then we played Reading and now we just have our shows in London, Oxford and Liverpool coming up. DJ : And then its back to the states is it? S-K : Yeah back to the states. This is just a short one so... DJ : Have you got a new record finished because the last one was out quite a while ago wasn't it? S-K : Yes, we just recorded our new record in July, it won't be out until early '99 though. We don't have a title to tell you yet but one of the songs we recorded today was a new song. DJ : Ok, just finally, come the end of last year or the start of this year, did all the critics poll thing take you by surprise because what were you? second to Radiohead in a Rolling Stone poll or something weren't you? S-K : Erm, I guess it kinda took us by surprise, you just have to take it with a grain of salt I suppose. We feel very lucky, theres a lot of great bands that are always overlooked. DJ : It must be a bit worrying to be flavour of the month, y'know, when are they gonna turn on us... S-K : I think you just have to pay attention to your fans and to the music itself. DJ : Did you have a good day today? S-K : Yeah we had a really fun day. DJ : Excellent. Thank you for recording a session for us and your'e going to play a track live now? S-K : This is a song called 'One more hour' and its off 'Dig me out'. Thanks for having us on your show. DJ : Thats no problem. Sleater-Kinney live on the Evening session... --------------- END wordsandguitar.v001.n327 --------------- @*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@*@* This list owned and maintained by bgrrrl.
