My Professional
Background
This is a picture of
my grandmother, Marie McCormack, taken for her graduation from
Meadville City
Hospital School of Nursing, Meadville, Pennsylvania, in 1928.
My professional
journey: I was born in upstate New York, and grew up in the tri-state
area of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I come from a family of
nurses: my grandmother, mother, and my husband are nurses!
I received my bachelor's degree in Nursing in 1974 from Trenton State College,
in Trenton, New Jersey, and a Master's Degree in Nursing from the University
of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1998. I have worked
as a nurse all over the southern United States, from San Antonio, TX, to
Gallup, NM, Tampa, FL, Alexandria, LA, and El Centro, CA. My area
of specialization is adult critical care. My particular interest
is cardiovascular disorders. I began teaching in an
associate degree nursing program at Imperial Valley College in CA. in 1991,
and it was love at first lecture! I have been fortunate to be associated
with the University of Texas at Brownsville/Texas Southmost College since
1995. Every day I learn something from my students, and I hope they
can say the same about me!
My
Hobbies and Interests

Everyone who knows
me knows I'm a Bahá’í. For those of you who don't know
what that is, it's the newest of the independent world religions.
