Purpose

The Beavercreek-Fairborn Optimist Club works in support of the youth in the communities of Beavercreek and Fairborn, Ohio.

Activities

We will be involved in many youth activities for 2008-09 including:

-Youth Appreciation Week Banquet - Thurs 13 Nov 2008/ 6PM at the Presidential Banquet Center in Kettering off David Rd

-Essay Contest- Topic: "The Power of Youth"

-Oratorical Contest-Topic: "For Me, Optimism is..."

--Club level Oratorical Contest- Sunday 8 Mar 09, 1:00 PM at Peace Lutheran Church in Beavercreek (across from the Post Office)

--Zone Oratorical Contest- 4 Apr 2009, 10 AM, at Shouvlin Center, 737 N Fountain Ave, Springfield.

--Regional Oratorical Contest- 18 Apr 2009, 10 AM, at Clark Co Public Library, 2015 S. Fountain Ave, Springfield.

--District Oratorical Contest- 16 May 09 at District Conference, Ramada Inn Conference Center, Columbus, Oh


-Respect for Law - Thur 7 May, 2009, 10AM at Fairborn Court on Kaufman & Garland Rd.

2009 YAW Honorees Chosen

Honorees from Beavercreek and Fairborn High Schools have been chosen by Club members. They are Erin Buckey, a senior at Fairborn High School and Zach Edidley, a senior at Beavercreek High School. They will be recognized at the Youth Appreciation Banquest on Wed Nov 11, 2009. Congratulations to both honorees.

2009 Installation Banquet Held

The Club's annual Installation Banquet was held at the Flying Tiger Restaurant in Fairborn on Wed Sep 30, 2009 at 6 PM. Prez Dave stepped down and Kylie became the new Club President. Nancy Lehren, Lt Gov from Zone 14, performed the Installation of Officers. Thanks Nancy and congratulations to the new officers.

Kite Fly Lots of Fun

The Club's annual Kitefly was held at Community Park in Fairborn on Sat May 2, 2009. It was sunny with no rain-- unlike the past week-- and even though the wind was not cooperating, everyone had a good time.

Rachel and Zach Compete at Zone Contest

Rachel and Zach competed in the Zone Oratorical Contest held at the Shouvlin Center in Springfield on April 4, 2009. Though they did not win in their divisions they gave excellent speeches. It has been a rewarding experience for our Club working with the oratorical contestants and we appreciate all your efforts. Thanks Rachel and Zach!

Jenee Presented with 1st Place Medallion

At the Club's 24 Mar 09 meeting Jenee was presented with the gold medallion by President Dave for winning at the Club level of the oratorical contest in the girl's division. Congratulations Jenee!
