Club Purpose

The purpose of our Club is to work for the youth of the Beavercreek and Fairborn communities. We hope to add new members so we will be able to grow and expand. We also want to have fun while we are together and working on our youth projects. Our Club believes that nothing done for children is ever wasted.

Club Mission

Optimist International's mission is to foster an optimistic way of life, through a network of optimists, dedicated to the full development of their potential in order to provide ever-expanding service to youth, the community and the world.

Our Reward

All our efforts for the youth are rewarded when we receive a letter like the following from the mother of the student we recognized at the Nov 1999 Youth Appreciation Week Banquet:

"Dear Dave,

I have been wanting to write to you ever since October to thank you for the kindness that you showed to Barbara and my husband and I at the Youth Appreciation Week Banquet put on by the Optimist Club. Illness has prevented me from writing sooner, but I wanted you to know that you have been on my mind ever since.

The food was wonderful, and everyone was so very nice to us. The program was fun, and we really enjoyed it. The evening was so special, that it will be remembered as a highlight in all of our lives.

Thank you for inviting us, and thank you for recognizing Barbara."

A Past President's Message:

Alfred, Lord Tennyson in "Ulysses" wrote, "Come my friends, 'Tis not too late to seek a newer world." Each time the Optimist Club reaches out to a child, either to recognize or to support, we assist in the search for a newer and better world. Let us rededicate ourselves to the motto, "Friend of Youth." Each activity, no matter how small, touches the lives of those upon whom the future depends. Indeed, I extend a warm welcome to all those who are willing to expend the time in caring for the youth who make up the future of our world. May the weeks and years ahead for the Beavercreek-Fairborn Optimist Club be filled with accomplishment and joy.

Michael L. Seewer
President 1998-1999
