The Village of Beverly is located in Washington County, Ohio. We are located approximately 20 miles northwest of Marietta, which is the County Seat. The population of Beverly in 2000 was 1287 residents. Fort Frye High School and Beverly Elementary School are located within the village. The village provides water and sewer services and administers a 1% income tax.

 

The Mayor and Council provide the governing body for the Village of Beverly. The fiscal officer is an appointed position, which takes care of all clerk, treasurer, accounting duties, utility and income tax administration. A water and sewer clerk and an  income tax clerk are employed to assist the fiscal officer.

 

The Supervisor of Services is an employee of the Village in charge of maintaining the lands, buildings, equipment, streets, parks, swimming pool, water and sewer facilities. Two full time employees and a Water and Sewer operator assist the Supervisor of Services.

 

The Village Police Department is funded from the general fund and consists of one full time Chief of Police, one full time officer and two part time police officers. We have 2 police cruisers.

 

The local Fire Department consists of volunteers and is contracted by the township to provide fire service for the village and township. The township provides EMS services to the village.

 

The sanitary sewer system is in a the process of implementing major necessary upgrades. We are in the process of engineering and installing a UV filtration system and a sludge compression waste removal system for the wastewater treatment plant. We have also just completed drilling a new water well. The water service is supplied by 4 wells.

 

The village office is located at 919 Mitchell Ave. This building consists of offices for the Mayor, Police Department, Fiscal Officer, Water & Sewer Office, and Income Tax Office. The Council chambers and small meeting room is also available. A section of the building is available for rent and a large storage area is used for custodial care of files, police evidence and various other records.
