 Minutes for the Village of Beverly Board of Public Affairs Regular Meeting

Held February 22, 2006

 

Water & Sewer for confined space work. Ullman asked if the employees were taking a confined space course and Brooker will check on this. The regular meeting of the Village of Beverly Board of Public Affairs was held Wednesday February 22, 2006 at 5:00 P.M. with Board President Tammy Bates presiding. Member Bernard Clark was present; billing Clerk Karla Lewis, Board of Public Affairs Clerk Larry Kitts, Operator Ralph Mohr, Supervisor of Services Sam Brooker, Mayor Biedenbach, and Councilperson Laura Adams were also present.

Minutes from the January 18, 2006 Board of Public Affairs Regular Meeting were read and approved.

 

Old Business: Brooker reported the Computer was in and working; however, Mohr was having trouble retrieving some of the information from the old computer.

 

Water Clerk’s Report and Bill Adjustments: Lewis reported McDonalds had a hard water problem and requested information on the hardness of the water. Lewis informed them Beverly had no filtration for the water system. Lewis stated Beverly’s hardness was 14.62 grains per gallon or 250 mg/liter and Marietta’s hardness is 6 grains per gallon or 100 mg/liter due to their filtration system. Biedenbach stated the school system had a commercial softener which would probably solve McDonald’s problem.

 

Supervisor of Services Report: Brooker reported the sump pump for the area between the newly poured wall and deep well would be $129-$170 depending on the volume. The blowers in the deep well were installed and running. Steps for the new wall and deep well were being built. Jamison will start core drilling next week and the board authorized the purchase of a gas detector system with Waterford

 

Operator's Report: Operator Ralph Mohr reported 4,790,000 gallons of water were pumped in January for an average of 155,000 gallons per day. There were no violations to report. Well #4 tetrachloroethene for the 1st Qtr of 2006 was 15.6 ug/l, and for the entry point <0.5 ug/l. The maximum contaminate level is 5.0 ug/l.

6,731,000 gallons of wastewater were treated for an average of 217,000 gallons daily (74.2% by design). Rainfall for December was 3.77 inches. No violations were reported for this month.

The Board requested Mohr get prices for the list of work submitted to be done during the upcoming year.

Mohr requested to go to the OTC water workshop held March 21-22. Ullman moved to send Ralph to this workshop and to be paid for his expenses. Clark seconded the motion, motion carried.

Mohr will also respond to the EPA in regard to the inspection of the wastewater treatment plant.

 

New Business & Correspondence: The Board authorized the purchase of a drop box for bill payments. Brooker stated training on swimware would be held March 13 and requested Bryan Jarvis attend also. The Board authorized attendance as long as the village had coverage during this period.

The Board also requested 5 day coverage during billing. Kitts stated he covered when Lewis was off on Fridays or Lewis worked the 5th day if Kitts was away from the office.

Ullman also requested to represent the Board of Public Affairs in regards to raises.

Biedenbach stated that either Jarvis or Satterthwaite will work with Mohr when he is at the plant in order to obtain hours to qualify for operator’s licensing.

 

Bills: Bills were presented and discussed. Clark moved to approve payment of the bills, Bates seconded the motion, motion approved by acclamation. Each member then initialed the vouchers.

The next meeting was scheduled for Wednesday February22, 2006 at 5:00 P.M... The Annual meeting with Waterford Water & Sewer and Tri-County will be held at 7:00 P.M. the same day.

With no further business to come before the Board the meeting was adjourned.
