RECORD OF ORDINANCES

 Ordinance No. 06-8  - Passed April 12, 2006

 

AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CHANGE OF WATER AND SEWER RATES, TAP FEES AND PENALTIES.

 

WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Council of the Village of Beverly that additional revenue is needed in the water and sewer funds in order to operate these utilities efficiently, expand facilities, and provide better and more efficient service in the future.

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of Beverly, County of Washington, State of Ohio, as follows:

            

             SECTION 1:

 

             A.         Water rates for all customers shall be increased 15% effective May 1, 2005.

             B.          The sewer rates shall remain 160% the inside rate for water for customers residing within the corporation limits. The sewer rates shall remain 100% the outside rate for water for customers residing outside the corporation limits.

C.         The charge for water and sewer taps shall remain $500.00. This shall be              for a 2 hour minimum. $50.00 per hour shall be charged after the 2-hour

 minimum.

             D.         The fee for restoration of service after service has been shut off shall be              $50.00.

E.          A guaranty deposit shall be charged all new customers. This shall include              all new property owners and tenants alike. The deposit shall remain at

$75.00.

 

             SECTION 2:

 

             A.         The billing cycle shall be for a one month period beginning the first day              of the month.

             B.          Customers will have 14 days after the first of the month in which to pay              their bill.

             C.         A penalty for late payment shall be applied on the 15th day after the first              day of the month.

D.         The penalty for failure to pay within 14 days after the first day of the              month shall be 10% of the unpaid bill.

             E.          Water service shall be terminated on the 25th day after the first day of the              month.

                         

 

             SECTION 3: The terms and rates of this Ordinance shall replace the terms and              rates in kind of any previous Ordinances. (See attachment for new

 rates.)

 

SECTION 4: An emergency exists effecting the public health, safety and              general welfare of the citizens of the Village of Beverly, and that this Ordinance

shall take effect and in force immediately upon passage.
