Course Description

Peer Counseling is an elective introduction to practical (as opposed to philosophical) psychology which incorporates the Sunshine Standards for Family Dynamics as well, allowing students who maintain appropriate academic standards to receive an additional half-credit in Family Dynamics

The minimum requirement for receiving the additional half-credit in Family Dynamics is to maintain a C or above FOR EACH SIX WEEKS and to PASS THE FINAL EXAM.

The primary focus of Peer Counselling is to increase understanding of human personality and interaction, to increase awareness of movitations in oneself and others, and to use that understanding and awareness to enhance the quality of one's personal and public relations.

GRADING POLICY
1. Daily PARTICIPATION Points: 10 points per day for being on task totalling 280-330 per 6 weeks. Portion of grade: +/- 15%
2. NOTEBOOKS/CHECKLISTS: Points vary from 40-50 to 200 points, depending on the assignment. Portion of grade: +/- 40%
3. TESTS: After each unit. Approximately 25-50 points each test. Portion of grade: +/- 45%
