email is my best communication because it stays put on my computer and rarely gets lost!

My cell phone is my second preference because it is always with me, and I will answer or reply as soon as possible.

I am also happy to meet with you personally during my planning period or after school.

I can send a Progress Report any schoolday straight from the gradebook and do that automatically every 2-3 weeks because the grade on the report cards is P = Passing. This is because the class "Research" is a generic title that allows me to assign many different courses on the computer to students in the same class period.

When a student completes a course, I send a complete Progress Report with statement of completion and credit(s) to everyone: parent, administration (for recording on transcript), and guidance. The grade is recorded within the week.

The Progress Report for "Research" looks a little odd because, again, it is generic. I list the grade for each module completed. If a column is empty, the student hasn't finished it yet. If the student is not required to do that module --some courses have 8 and others 20-- then an X appears in the column.

At the bottom of the report are Notes about the course and also specific modules, identifying the general topics. It caqn get confusing, especially with the English classes. These require a second class to record the Literature section and another to calculate the Final Grade.

In English, there is a Literature section which NovaNet does not provide. These are on my website: goto Research and look for the specific English course listed on that page, which links to the assignments for that course. Most students do this work in class, but it is set up so that students can do this work at home and email me their completed work.

I encourage parents to call or email anytime to get an update or to update me. The phone # is my cell and is a more reliable way to reach me than the school phone since I move back and forth between classroom and lab during the day.
