A few thoughts from the amazing events of yestereve:

1)  It is a damn good thing I ain't got no job.  3 frickin am in the morning

just to watch a ballgame (much more tiring than fucking -- the immortal

words of Ebbie Calvin Laloosh).  I thought about giving up on it many times

-- no doubt fatigued by the endless lack of clutch hitting (exception:

Erubiel Durazo) and abysmal inability to manufacture a run -- but in such an

important and dramatic game I knew I could never forgive myself had it ended

with an A's win in legendary fashion, as it finally did.

2)  Anyone recall Tom Berenger in Major League, the old banged up

3-toed-sloth running catcher?  He wins the big game with the same (made for

a movie) ending.  2 outs, bottom of the last inning, points to the stands

indicating jonron, and puts a little bunt out there, only able to chug to

1st as the defense is totally unprepared (the beautiful "ohhh shit" look on

the 3rd baseman's face).

3)  I give mad props to Ramon Hernandez.  For conceiving the idea, and for

executing absolutely perfectly.  The way things were going, I knew the A's

were going to need something nasty to win the game.  I kept saying, just get

a guy to third, just get a guy to third, hoping he could score an a wild

pitch, throwing error, bloop, infield chopper, etc.  I didn't account for

the intentional bunt single, which was poetic.

4) Hopefully the A's can take this and run

4)  Hopefully the A's can take this and run.  They have all the momentum,

and need to win today with Zito vs. Wakefield.  To win the series, and go

further, Chavez HAS TO HIT.  The brilliant play at 3rd to save the game

redeems him, but the guy really needs to lead the team (along with Tejada)

as he has not in the series past.  0 for 6 with 5 pop-ups ain't going to cut

it.  He nuts-up, you can totally see it in his face.  I keep waiting for his

breakthrough moment -- I thought that the play in the 12th might carry over

to his hitting, but then he tried to hit into a double play to end the

threat in bottom of the inning.

5)  Aff you are quite astute, I am not wearing my A's gear down the street,

as I would literally be at risk of real bodily harm.  You have no idea how

seriously these baboons take the Red Sox, and how bad of a chip they have on

their shoulder.  Ahh, its the Saaawx, its thah yeaah.  The sox are the lead

story on every news show, and get 20 of the 30 minutes of airtime.  It gives

me such pleasure to see folks the day after, bleary eyed (like myself), but

-- in a key difference -- with nothing to show for it.

6)  In other words: Frustraing as they may be, this squad will fight (how

about Tim Hudson?) to bring some glory back to the green and gold.  Oakland

Athletics - 9 rings, second to only Yankees and Cardinals -- still wanna

fuck with us?  Go A's.

All the news that ticks me off

Dang it! My counter was up over 3500 then the code went bad and I had to reinstall it. Anyway, take the number above and add about 3500 to it.
