Jungle Trading in South America

EXPORTING SHIPMENTS TO THE UNITED STATES
To export anything into the United States, you must supply the following information in English on the outside of each and every package in the form of CN 22 or CN 23 (Customs Declaration Form). This form may be obtained at local post offices worldwide.
1. Your (seller’s) name and address must appear on the CN 22 Form
2. A description of the item(s) in English is required. Be certain that you state the approximate age of the item(s) and that this age is at least 100 years.
3. State the quantity of each type of item being shipped.
4. Give the purchase price in U.S. dollars. (This is the price that you paid for the items and does not include shipping costs. State this amount correctly.)
5. Declare the weight of each item and the weight of the package
6. State the country of origin
7. Say that the shipment is a Commercial Shipment.
All of these seven items must be included in your Customs Declaration on the outside of your package or packages to ensure easy entry into the United States. We advise a copy of your CN 22 or 23 be included on the inside of each package mailed to Beowulf Trading. The reason that we advise European Antique & Collectibles as your business shipments is that they are not subject to import duties. We recommend limiting their value to no more than US$2,000 so they enter the U.S. as an informal entry, which avoids paperwork delays. Any confusion at the U.S. Postal Service will delay the delivery of your items to Beowulf Trading. This means your payment will be delayed.

PAYING YOU
I would prefer paying you online. I have accounts at the following Internet services:
PayPal – Beowulfinvestments
To open an account:

StormPay - Beowulfinvestments@Earthlink.net
Egold - Beowulfinvestments
To open an egold account:

You can open an account with any of these services, without cost. We are more than willing to open an account at another online service, if none of these online services work for you. Also, if necessary, we are willing to use traditional payment methods, like international postal money orders or wire transfers. However, you will have to pay the direct costs involved with any traditional payment method.

BASIC TOOLS
1. A jeweler’s loop is essential. It allows you to search for hallmarks, judge workmanship and evaluate condition.
2. A book on recognizing European Antiques is useful.
3. A digital camera is desirable. It allows me to evaluate your shipment before it arrives and find a wholesaler for your items. If you don’t have one, the camera should be purchased from your profits.
4. You need an intense, small light. You use it to see tool marks and abrasion. As well as dips in the surface by raking the light over the surface.
5. You need a handheld ultraviolet light. You’ll use it to see if there is any pigment or glaze used after the craftsman applied the original. It helps you judge glass, horn and ceramics.
6. You need calipers to measure symmetry. Machine-made modern items are uniform. Antiques are asymmetrical.

PACKING YOUR SHIPMENTS:
If it breaks, it’s worthless!
1. Package an egg, wrapped with newspaper. Hold it out at arm’s length and drop it. If it breaks, it wasn’t packaged properly.
2. Package several eggs. Put them in a cardboard box with additional packing on the sides, top and bottom. Drop the box from ten feet. If any of the eggs break, the box was improperly packaged.
3. Put 40 kilos of weight on the top of your egg box. Let it sit for a day. If any of the eggs crack, the box wasn’t properly packaged.
4. Modern packaging materials are hard to find in many countries. Newspaper works, but it must be used liberally. It CAN'T touch the antique. Printer's ink runs. Wrap the item in plain paper, before you insulate with newspaper.

MAILING YOUR PACKAGE:
Don't mail your shipments from your local post office. It creates delays as your package works its way through your postal system to the branch that puts it on an overseas flight. It increases the risk of theft as more people handle your package.
Use your post office that puts the international packages on the overseas flights. This post office is often at the international airport or is the main post office in the capital. The local postmaster can give you its location. If you do not live near that post office, have friends visiting the airport or capital mail your packages at the international post office branch.
