Locating the position of the rear VCP hatch

  • A preliminary check is made of the rear deck outfitting.

Preparing to fillet the outside of the hull

  • Holes from stapling are filled.

The hull is shaping up

  • The kayak is starting to take shape.

Stringer bevel modified to compensate for trimming of sidewalls

  • The stringer bevel had to be adjusted to comply with the modified side angles.
  • Gaps were filled with epoxy thickened with Cab-O-Sil
  • Epoxy Thickened with Cab-O-Sil was poured in the ends
  • Holes for carry toggles will be drilled in the ends before finishing.

Seams are filled with epoxy thickened with wood flour

  • A tube is used to apply the epoxy paste
  • This is a messy operation

All seams have been filled

  • At this point I decided to use paint to finish the hull.
