Bendix Environmental Research, Inc. (BERI), is a small consulting firm specializing in the analysis of occupational exposure to toxic substances, accidental chemical exposures, and the investigation of contaminated sites. Clients include government agencies, private developers, nonprofit institutions, attorneys and environmental organizations.
Intern responsibilities:
As an intern with BERI your duties will depend on current contracts and on your interests and abilities. Intern duties may include assisting in computer and library literature searches for information on environmental, chemical and medical topics; reviewing and summarizing technical material; attending and summarizing meetings of various environmental regulatory commissions; gathering information for use in and writing sections of environmental documents; creating computer graphics; coding material for the company library; performing traffic counts and proofreading reports.
Preferred Intern Qualifications:
A multidisciplinary background (including some physical science) particularly chemistry, and some biology, above average language skills, and a genuine interest in environmental problems. Basic computer skills are desirable. Availability: Minimum of 20 hours per week for ten weeks. We will work with you to arrange the scheduling of your time with us so as not to conflict with your other responsibilities.

Compensation:
Internships are unpaid unless you are working on a project directly billable to a client. The focus is on learning, not income. You receive training in return for your time. All interns are evaluated as potential paid staff members.
