The Community of the Beloved
We welcome Episcopalians, Christians from other traditions, and members of other faiths. We welcome seekers and skeptics, agnostics and atheists. We welcome the hopeful, the despondent, the ambivalent and the indifferent. We welcome all ages and abilities, classes and cultures, and races regardless of one's convictions and criminal record. We welcome everyone to participate in our worship and in our community, without insisting that any person become like any one of us in order to be accepted.
Eucharist is celebrated in the fullness of the meaning of that word, on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 p.m. (or as soon as count clears) until 7:45 p.m. All baptized Christians are encouraged, but not required, to partake of the sacrament.
Confessions are heard and mentoring sessions held by appointment only on the first Tuesday of each month from 9:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. From 1:30 - 2:45 p.m. a lively and interactive discipling class is held on the same first Tuesday of each month and an Alpha class, held from 6:30 p.m. (or as soon as the evening count clears) until 7:45 concludes the day.
Catechists are instructed for confirmation according to the schedule assigned by the Chaplain of the institution and the bishop's calendar.
We celebrate Christmas with a Eucharist on the Wednesday before Christmas and a community meal (feast), catered by Clara White Mission's Ashley Street Catering on another Wednesday in December as determined by the Chaplain.
The Wednesday during Easter Week is when our community celebrates Easter with a joyous Eucharistic celebration in the fullest sense of the word. All other festive and penitential observances of the church year are carried out on the Wednesday nearest their occurrence and as time and the Department of Corrections permit.
