The Row numbers are an arbitrary reference.; they will change as new data is added. The haplogroups in bold green were determined with SNP tests. All other haplogroups have been predicted by the testing agency, based on unambiguous Y-DNA results. Remaining columns represent the various loci where the Y-DNA alleles were measured. Each line of DYS numbers represents the haplotype of the individual participant. Using the highlight colors as a guide, you can see clusters of similar haplotypes.

More Helps

The red marker numbers indicate a faster mutation rate than the others. While that actual 'faster rate' has not yet been definitively calculated, not all markers should be treated the same for evaluation purposes. The DYS numbers in red are also very helpful at splitting lineages into sub sets, or branches, within your family tree.

Those participants with * next to their privacy code are willing to be contacted directly about their Y-DNA results, or genealogy. This contact information is given on our Haplosearch pages. The identity of other participants may be obtained from a project administrator, when consent has been given by the participant.

All participants should upload their Y-DNA results to Ysearch, which contains free, powerful search tools. The webmaster can post a link to your Ysearch records, on our haplosearch page, for quick access to these search tools. You can safely experiment with these tools, by clicking any of the available Ysearch links.

FTDNATiP calculates the probabilities of two people sharing a common ancestor. This tool is available to all Family Tree DNA customers with at least 25 alleles (marker results), when they log-in to their personal FTDNA web site. Please refer their article, Understanding Matches.

We encourage participants who have further interests in learning more about their origins and ancestry to take SNP and mtDNA tests to satisfy that need for more information! Our FTDNA participants may take recommended additional tests at our group discounted prices by going to the right of their name and kit number, on their personal FTDNA page, to the highlighted "order tests" The order page shows group prices on all available tests; click on the drop-down listings at the bottom, to review these tests and prices. The Rb1 haplotype, has now been included in the Backbone Y-SNP tests.

Participation in the National Genographic Project may provide more background on your origins in the remote past.
