Beall Town, the original name of Bladensburg, was situated upon a tract of land called “Black Ash,” or variations thereof, which was owned by John Beall (1688-1742) (of Alexander), whose wife was Verlinda Magruder (1690-1745), the two of whom conveyed many lots in Beall Town long before it was named Bladensburg by Legislative Act of 1742 [Page 136 “Early Families Of Southern Maryland” by Elise Greenup Jourdan / Family Line Publications / Westminster, Maryland 1998].

In 1712, John married Verlinda MAGRUDER (b. 1690) in Prince George County, Maryland.

Alexander died in Prince George County, Maryland, in 1744; he was 94. 11- Alexander BELL the Braboner (linen weaver). There is no definite proof that Alexander the Braboner is the father of the four Bell/Beall brothers who came to North America, but the circumstantial evidence is hard to ignore.

On 21 May 1646, Alexander married Margaret Ramsay in St. Andrews Parish, Fifeshire, Scotland.
