| My family, Vanessa, myself, Bill and Will (l to r) on an Alaskan Cruise |
I've had a great deal of fun researching my family history.
It is a burning passion to learn more about those who came before me. Learn about the lives, difficulties, accomplishments,
migrations, wars, everything I can to help create a picture of who they were. Combined, these pictures create the
person I am.
I've researched many of my ancestors' surnames which include Thurman, Britton,
Triplett, Galloway, Berg, Nisbet and Pounds. I have also researched some of my husband's family names which include
Parks, Sherwood, Cordts, McVey and VanWart. All of my research is represented on my Rootsweb database.

After spending a great amount of time
researching my family history, I decided that I needed to set some goals which would further my research efforts. One
of those goals was to apply for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution, connecting to a female patriot, Elinor
Harbin Triplett. After collecting many documents which included deeds, wills, military pension applications, court
records and vital records I was unable to supply the final and necessary documentation link to Elinor. So, what was
I to do with all of that research? I decided to write up a report which can be found by clicking the "My Triplett Family"
link on this page. Once the Triplett report was complete, I began research on another ancestor who was a Revolutionary
War patriot, James Nisbet. A photo of his tombstone is on this page. I was successful in researching the
Nisbet family and finding all of the necessary documentation for a DAR application which I'm pleased to write has been
approved.

One of the benefits of researching family history, is meeting other researchers who share an
enthusiasm for "digging" until the truth is uncovered. I'd like to thank all who have helped in my research - the list
is very, very long. And I always love meeting distant cousins who share in my passion for family history. So,
if you are related to me, please send me an e-mail and say "hey".
Please check back often to see what new family information I've added.
