Anthony Ramirez
Haiku

She squeezes his hand
"one more push"
the sound of a baby's cry

Blowing smoke into empty air,
reflection of her eyes,
red neon hotel sign

Bar music
muffles her voice,
“I think you are F------”

Salty beach water
stings my cut,
but always helps it heal.

“Fugly gal at the end of the bar”
2 cocktails, 5 beers,
“Gorgeous gal at the end of the bar”

Table for two
he sits alone,
lipstick on deserted wine glass.

Empire State Building,
ant strolling on top
flicked off by mortal finger.

Walking bare,
#’s on their arms
ENTER, doors closed

Car lot-
foggy windows,
officer approaches the couple.

Hungry, but smokes
and always carries,
his only acoustic guitar.

At work,
same yesterday clothes,
her perfume still lingers.

With a cute smile
hands me the change,
scars on her wrist.
