-Friday, August 26th: William Ponce has left the team to be
with his wife for the birth of their child in San Salvador, El
Salvador. He was 4-1 with a 4.15ERA in 21 innings this season. He will not be rejoining the team.
-Saturday, July 9th: 5th
round pick Seth Johnston signed and was assigned to Eugene. In other news, pitcher Danny De La O (at right) announced his voluntary retirement from professional baseball.
-Sunday, July 3rd: Catcher John Slone announced his voluntary retirement.
He was the 24th round pick of the Padres this year out of Miami (of Ohio) University. He did not appear in any games. Meanwhile,
firstbaseman Chad Steiner was sent down to Peoria.
-Friday, June 24th: The Ems added Padres' 2005 draft picks
Nick Hundley, a catcher and Josh Alley, an OF, to their roster. They still have one open spot left on the roster.
-Thursday, June 16th: The Ems' roster currently stands at
27 players, with a couple more players likely to be added in the next few days. The Ems will begin workouts Friday the 17th
with most players set to report today. 1A round pick, Cesar Ramos, however, will not report till Tuesday for unspecified reasons.
The team will open its season at home against Spokane next Thursday.
