Mammy's Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

 
2 sticks butter or margarine
2 cups sugar (mostly brown)
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup water
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
3 T. cocoa
1 tsp. soda

Directions:

  
  1. cupcakes.jpg (475769 bytes)Cream butter and sugar.  Add eggs, and mix well.  Add buttermilk, water and vanilla
  2. Combine flour, cocoa and baking soda; add to previous ingredients and mix well.
  3. Pour into greased 13x9" pan and bake @ 350° for 30-35 minutes, or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. 
  4. Cool and frost if desired.  Here's a frosting recipe I like.

For cupcakes: pour into 24 lined muffin cups and bake for 20 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
