My prices are not as high as the most expensive calligraphers
charge, but more than the least expensive calligraphers. Keep in mind that with my work you get several "unadvertised
extras" based on my 30 years of experience.
1. I know correct etiquette for envelope addresses, and will correct mistakes in your list.
2. I know most streets in St. Louis and proper zip codes, and can also spot many mistakes in
other major cities in the US. If an address looks strange, I look it up and correct mistakes for you.
3. I am easy to work with. Ask for references from my most recent customers.
The small extra amount you will spend using my services compared to the cost of your event,
or the amount you will save, is a few dollars well spent (or saved) to make the proper first impression to
an event that will be remembered for a lifetime.
DEPOSIT-I frequently am fully booked and must turn down jobs. To ensure I can do your
job and schedule your work, I ask for a $75 deposit which is applied to the cost of your job. When sending a deposit
let me know the quantity and when the envelopes need to be mailed. Allow me at least two weeks. I will return
your deposit if I am already fully booked.
Please refer to the "Envelope Styles" heading to the left for
samples of each style below.
Prices include black ink.

Most residential addresses are three lines, with the third line
including the zip code. A traditional wedding invitation also includes an inner envelope with one additional line of
text.
For example, an invitation addressed using a flourished italic style is $2.40 for four lines.
Extra lines for foreign or business addresses are the same
cost per line for the style of calligraphy.
A number of circumstances can add to the time I must spend on a
job and add cost. However, none of these additions are any problem for me. Each is discussed below.
COLORED INK---If the color is available in bottled ink there is
a $30 set-up charge to clean and change my pens before and after the job.
An additional ten cents per line is added for gray, pastel or
custom mixed colors I use with a dip pen.
ENVELOPES WITH LINERS OR OPAQUE PAPER----I use a light box to ensure
the addresses are straight. Liners and heavy envelopes are not translucent and block the light. Lining
up each line visually adds time to the job. Thus the extra charge of ten cents per line.
ENVELOPE ART---Because this involves a unique small painting on
each envelope, this is the most expensive extra, but well worth the special effect. I'd be glad to do some sample designs
for you to consider.
Small decorative embellishments can be added for as little as twenty-five
cents per address.
POOR PAPER QUALITY---Very infrequently customers have envelopes
that are rough making my pen point catch, or envelopes that are extremely porous causing the ink to spread. This
requires an extra step to treat each envelope.
SHIPPING COSTS----If applicable, charged at actual cost.
