Change in plans!
Pima County Public Library logo
We're trying something completely different this year and coordinating our writer's contest with the Pima County Public Library. We are actually offering two contests at the same time, one for adults and one for teens.

CONTEST RULES :

Please follow directions exactly! Work that does not adhere precisely to these rules will be disqualified.

Entry is limited to writers with no professionally published work.  Stories must be 5000 words or less, all content original to the author, and it must have some speculative content: Fantasy, Science Fiction, Horror, Magical Realism, etc.  No novel excerpts, please. Multiple submissions are allowed but we encourage you to submit only your best work.

To be eligible for the teen contest, the writer must be no less than age 13 and no more than age 17 as of November 9, 2007. Older individuals must submit work to the adult contest. Younger individuals are not eligible.

Submissions must be in formal hardcopy manuscript format:

There is no entry fee.  You do not need to be a member of TusCon to enter, although we certainly encourage that!

DEADLINE :
October 15, 2007 so get crackin’!

(Submissions must actually arrive by the deadline, not just be postmarked.  You can hand deliver them if need be.)

PRIZES: There will 3 top teen awards and 3 top adult awards.
Awards ceremony will take place at the convention’s Meet the Guests Party on Friday night (11/9).

NEED HELP GETTING STARTED? The Pima County Public Library is holding a series of half-day writers’ workshops in September and October, with panels of well-known sf/f, media, and horror authors talking the nuts and bolts of writing speculative fiction. Who is coming? When? Watch for announcements on the web and in your local library!
The PCPL website is:   www.library.pima.gov    (and you DO need the "www").
