TusCon 36 News:

Notice:  the hotel has changed its sign! It now says HOTEL TUCSON and is mostly brown, instead of the old blue and white.

1. TusCon 36 is scheduled for November 13-15, 2009 at the InnSuites Hotel in Tucson, AZ.

2. The room block at the hotel closes on October 12, 2009.  Be sure to reserve your rooms early.  Also be sure to ask for the "TusCon Science Fiction Convention" room block (and use the whole phrase) so you will get the Con rates, at least have a chance that the reservations person will find the room block correctly and so the Con gets credit for the room nights. Thanks!

3.  Weston Ochse has accepted our offer to be our Guest of Honor this year!  Weston is a Stoker Award-winning author and longtime friend of TusCon.

4.  We are pleased to announce that Liz Hanson will be our Fan Guest of Honor! Liz has been a supporter TusCon for many years, as well as being involved will all aspects of Fandom throughout Arizona.

5.  We are also pleased to announce that Ed Bryant will again be our Toastmaster!  Ed has been our Toastmaster for many years and never fails to amuse, enlighten, confound, and amaze.

6. The TusCon Anime Room is back this year! Meghann is excited to show you both her favorites and latest finds.

7.  Costuming at TusCon returns with TusCon Cosplay with a Steampunk theme!

8.  Great news! The hotel has new rates for us:  $69 (studio room), $79 (2-room suite or kitchenette) & $89 for a Jacuzzi suite (see below).

9. The rules on how the TusCon 36 Cosplay will work have been posted on the Cosplay link (below).

10. Added list of confirmed participants (as of 10/17/09).

11. Long time TusCon veteran, Dr. Paul (Phil) Carter, will be our Special Guest. He will be on hand to discuss the Golden Age of Fandom.

12. Paul Bradford  (new Tech Specialist for Ghost Hunters International) will be here to discuss Paranormal Investigation.

Rates:  Memberships are $35 through 5/5, $40 through 9/1, then $45 after that and at the door.
            One-days are $20/35/15 for Fri/Sat/Sun. Children (ages 3-12) are 1/2 current adult rates.

             This does not apply to Dealer tables and Art Show space, though.

            Also please call, instead of using the website, for reservations so we get credit for the room nights. 
            Our room block expires on 10/12/2009,
so reserve your room early!
             As a courtesy to our members, the hotel will extend convention rates for 3 nights
             before and/or after the actual convention dates.

            Each room has a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker, plus each room
            includes a full buffet breakfast in PJ's Cafe (in the Lobby area) !

            The InnSuites has 4 handicapped-accessible rooms available.

            The InnSuites does allow pets, but only with a $25 non-refundable deposit and
            the room  will be a smoking room.

           ** All I-10 construction is scheduled to be done before TusCon this year (YAY!).
           To get to the hotel, take the Congress exit and turn East.  Turn left (North)

           onto Granada and the entrance to
the hotel is just before St. Mary's Road. **
